POSITION OVERVIEW

At BDC, we are the only bank dedicated exclusively to supporting Canadian entrepreneurs. As Canada's business bank, we help entrepreneurs create and develop strong businesses through financing, advisory services, and capital investments. In an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving risk environment, Integrated Risk Management plays a critical role in enabling informed decision-making, supporting resilience, and ensuring the Bank continues to fulfill its mandate while prudently managing risks.

As a Senior Analyst, Integrated Risk Management, you will play a key role in strengthening the Bank's risk management framework by supporting the design, execution, and continuous enhancement of enterprise-wide stress testing and model risk management programs.

You will contribute to assessing the Bank's resilience under a range of adverse economic and financial scenarios, including emerging risks related to economic uncertainty, geopolitical developments, climate change, and other evolving risk drivers. Through rigorous analysis and effective challenge, you will provide valuable insights that support strategic decision-making, capital planning, and risk management across the organization.

You will also help ensure that models used throughout the Bank are effectively governed, appropriately validated, and managed in accordance with internal standards, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.

Working closely with business lines, Finance, Treasury, Risk Management, and model owners, you will provide analysis, oversight, and recommendations that contribute to sound risk governance and informed decision-making across the Bank.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

Stress Testing

  • Support the planning, development, execution, and continuous improvement of the Bank's enterprise-wide and ad hoc stress testing exercises.
  • Contribute to the design of macroeconomic and financial stress scenarios and assess their impact on earnings, balance sheet performance, capital adequacy, liquidity, and risk exposures.
  • Consolidate, analyze, and interpret stress testing results and communicate key findings to stakeholders through reports and presentations.
  • Assist in the review and challenge of stress testing assumptions, methodologies, models, and results to support effective risk oversight.
  • Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of stress testing methodologies, tools, and analytical frameworks.
  • Monitor emerging risks, economic developments, industry trends, and regulatory expectations to identify potential impacts on the Bank and inform scenario development.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to support strategic initiatives, regulatory requirements, and program enhancements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Risk Management, Finance, Treasury, and business units to support the delivery of the stress testing program.
  • Contribute to the evolution and maturity of the Bank's stress testing capabilities and related governance practices.

Model Risk Management

  • Maintain the Bank's Model Inventory and help ensure its completeness, accuracy, and ongoing effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and monitor model validation activities to ensure timely execution and compliance with established requirements.
  • Track, challenge, and report on the remediation of model validation findings and model-related issues.
  • Support the preparation of materials and reporting for the Model Risk Committee and other governance forums.
  • Collaborate with model owners, model developers, validators, and other stakeholders to support effective model lifecycle management.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of model risk management policies, standards, procedures, and governance processes.
  • Monitor evolving industry practices and regulatory developments related to model risk management and contribute recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at strengthening model governance, transparency, and risk management across the organization.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in stress testing, model risk management, financial risk management, capital management, quantitative analysis, or a related discipline within the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of Canadian banking practices, risk management frameworks, and applicable regulatory expectations, including OSFI guidance, is considered an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to interpret complex quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and perform financial and risk analysis using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, stress testing concepts, and model governance practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
