About the Role
To support the reliable operation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of toothpaste packaging lines by providing technical expertise in equipment operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and performance improvement. The role is responsible for supporting line start-up, equipment reliability, OEE improvement, loss reduction, and compliance with GMP, Quality, EHS, and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Packaging Equipment Operation & Technical Support
- Provide technical support for the operation and performance of packaging equipment.
- Support line start-up, changeovers, shutdowns, and production ramp-up activities.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and productivity.
- Assist operators in resolving equipment-related issues and improving machine utilization.
- Support installation, commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities for new equipment and upgrades.
2. OEE, Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor OEE and analyze losses related to breakdowns, reduced speed, quality defects, changeovers, and material issues.
- Support implementation of loss-reduction and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Participate in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving activities.
- Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams to achieve performance targets.
- Support implementation of actions to improve equipment availability, performance, and quality.
- Monitor and improve key equipment performance indicators including MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), uptime, and line efficiency.
- Analyse recurring equipment failures and downtime trends to improve equipment reliability and reduce losses.
- Support TPM-driven continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing equipment availability, performance, and quality.
3. Autonomous & Preventive Maintenance
- Lead and support Autonomous Maintenance activities including cleaning, inspection, lubrication, tightening, and basic equipment care.
- Identify equipment abnormalities and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Support preventive maintenance planning and execution to improve equipment reliability.
- Participate in equipment restoration and defect elimination activities.
- Promote good maintenance practices and operator ownership of equipment.
- Participate in focused improvement activities to eliminate chronic losses and improve equipment effectiveness.
4. Technical Troubleshooting & Supplier Coordination
- Troubleshoot packaging equipment issues using knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems.
- Support OEM engineers, contractors, and suppliers during maintenance, commissioning, and improvement activities.
- Assist in equipment testing, performance verification, and issue resolution.
- Support spare-parts identification, inventory management, and critical spare reviews.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and technical records.
5. GMP, Quality, EHS & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with GMP, quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Follow permit-to-work, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and energy-isolation procedures.
- Support machine-safety compliance including guarding, sensors, interlocks, and safety devices.
- Participate in audits, investigations, CAPA implementation, and inspection readiness activities.
- Escalate any risks impacting safety, quality, compliance, or equipment performance.
6. Key Working Relationships
- Internal: Packaging Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Automation, Quality, EHS, Warehouse, and Production Planning teams.
- External: Equipment OEMs, contractors, service engineers, system integrators, and spare-parts suppliers.
Qualification and Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Production Engineering or related technical
- discipline.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in FMCG, Consumer healthcare, food, pharmaceutical, Personal care, pr other high- speed
- manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience in packaging equipment operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, commissioning, and line performance improvement.
- Experience supporting TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives is preferred,
Required Skills & Competencies
- Good understanding of OEE, manufacturing losses, and continuous-improvement methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of packaging equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) systems.
- Basic understanding of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, pneumatic systems, motors, and control systems.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and operational equipment issues.
- Good understanding of packaging line changeovers, machine settings, and performance optimization.
- Knowledge of GMP, quality systems, EHS requirements, permit-to-work, and energy-isolation procedures.
- Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and data analysis.

- Cartoners and coding/serialization systems.
- Checkweighers, inspection, and reject systems.
- Shrink bundlers and case packers.
- Case sealers and case-coding systems.
- Conveying and accumulation systems.
- Palletizers and stretch-wrapping equipment.
