Shipping & External Warehouse Supervisor
About the Role
We are seeking a Shipping & External Warehouse Supervisor to lead our site shipping operation, oversee customs compliance activities, and manage key relationships with external warehouse and logistics partners.
Operating within a regulated manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of goods while maintaining high standards of service, quality, inventory control, and cost management. You will lead a small team and collaborate across Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, Customer Service, and external logistics providers to support business objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop the Shipping & External Warehouse team, ensuring a high-performance and customer-focused culture.
Manage day-to-day shipping operations, ensuring all shipments are planned, documented, dispatched, and delivered in line with customer and business requirements.
Oversee site import/export customs activities, ensuring trade compliance and accurate completion of customs documentation and declarations.
Act as the key site contact for external warehouse providers, freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and 3PL/4PL partners.
Manage operational escalations relating to shipments, customs clearance, inventory discrepancies, warehouse performance, and customer service risks.
Monitor and improve key KPIs across service, quality, inventory accuracy, safety, and cost.
Ensure shipping, customs, and external warehousing activities comply with GMP, GDP, EHS, and company requirements.
Maintain strong inventory governance across SAP, external warehouse systems, and logistics partners to ensure stock accuracy and timely reconciliation.
Support audits, investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and customer complaints as required.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, compliance, and service performance.
Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and training documentation while ensuring team competency across relevant systems and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
3-5 years' experience in shipping, warehousing, logistics, customs, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
Experience leading, supervising, or coordinating a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong understanding of shipping processes, customs compliance, inventory management, logistics documentation, and customer delivery requirements.
Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, along with strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with experience using KPIs to drive operational performance.
Working knowledge of quality, compliance, safety, and SOP-driven processes within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred
5+ years' experience within pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer healthcare, FMCG, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Experience managing external warehouse providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL/4PL logistics partners.
Knowledge of GMP, GDP, trade compliance, and temperature-controlled logistics.
Experience supporting audits, deviations, CAPA investigations, and quality systems.
Working knowledge of SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, WMS, or other logistics management systems.
Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or project management experience.
€ 50,855 - € 69,926
