Purpose 

To provide the management of the hotel with the information necessary for them to effectively control their labour costs and thereby increase the profitability of the hotel.  In addition be a liaison with the Management Team on Accounts Payable Invoices processing.

• Must have a commitment to follow all local and corporate policies and procedures as they relate to this position.

• Must be self motivating and have a high degree of analytical ability and confidentiality, and work in a safe, prudent and organized manner. 

Major Responsibilities / Tasks 

• Match invoices, delivery slips to purchase order, comparing prices, quantities ordered, received and billed.

• Prepare manual and weekly checks, get appropriate signatures, and file all back-up

• Create month end statements and correctly match invoices to statement details. 

• Answer telephones and record messages accurately. 

• Transfer charges from the hotel outlets and other miscellaneous charges to the appropriate charge account.

• Appropriately file documents and reports.

• Meet with Division and Department Heads and observe the actual work being performed in each department in order to establish labour standards for all job categories within the hotel.

• Once labour standards are established, review each department at least twice per year to determine the adequacy of their labour standards.

• Propose changes to labour standards, when necessary and implement them only after approval by senior management (General Manager or General Manager and Regional Vice President).

• Produce a Labour Report on a daily basis as per SR-4.

• Prepare a separate report daily, explaining the "major" variances to established labour standards and distribute to Planning Committee.

• On a Pay Period basis, produce the following reports:

• Reported vs. Actual Reconciliation

• Overtime Analysis

• Sick Pay Analysis

• Full Time Equivalent Report

• Assist the department heads in researching any discrepancies or problems highlighted by any of the above reports (daily or otherwise).

• On a monthly basis, produce the following reports: Accrued payroll for period not paid

• Reported vs. actual reconciliation

• Overtime analysis

• Sick pay analysis 

• At month end, assist the Division Heads in writing their departmental Labour Variance reports.

• During the budget process, assist the Department Heads in producing their annual labour budgets taking actual history and labour standards in account.

• If necessary, assist Department Heads in setting up computerized scheduling modules based upon their labour standards.

• Conduct self in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Finance to include a participative role in Operating Equipment inventory. 

Skills/Qualifications: 

Ideal candidate will have: 

• Minimum one year experience or related work.

• Good communication and written skills.
