CACI is seeking an experienced Generator Mechanic, Journeyman to support power generation and expeditionary infrastructure operations across the Indo-Pacific. The Generator Mechanic, Journeyman serves as CACI's technical professional responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting tactical and commercial power generation equipment supporting logistics, mission support, facilities, Joint Theater Distribution Centers (JTDCs), Intermediate Staging Bases (ISBs), communications systems, and expeditionary operations. Reporting directly to the Facilities Operations Manager, this position ensures reliable electrical power generation supporting mission-critical Government operations in fixed and deployed environments.

The Generator Mechanic works closely with Government stakeholders, electrical engineers, electricians, utilities specialists, facilities managers, communications personnel, logistics planners, equipment manufacturers, and mission partners to maintain generators, transfer switches, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and associated electrical distribution equipment. This position contributes to successful program execution by maximizing equipment availability, improving infrastructure reliability, and ensuring uninterrupted power support throughout the Indo-Pacific theater.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul tactical and commercial diesel, gasoline, and hybrid generator systems.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling systems, load banks, voltage regulators, and associated support equipment.

  • Conduct operational testing, load bank testing, and performance evaluations to verify generator readiness and reliability.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, cooling, lubrication, and control system failures using technical manuals and diagnostic equipment.

  • Support installation and sustainment of expeditionary power systems supporting warehouses, JTDCs, ISBs, command posts, communications sites, and mission support facilities.

  • Coordinate generator maintenance schedules to minimize operational downtime and maintain mission readiness.

  • Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, parts inventories, and equipment lifecycle documentation.

  • Coordinate procurement of repair parts, consumables, fuel system components, and maintenance supplies.

  • Support contingency operations, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and emergent missions requiring rapid deployment of power generation capabilities.

  • Ensure compliance with Department of Defense maintenance standards, environmental regulations, fuel handling procedures, and electrical safety requirements.

  • Coordinate with electricians, utilities specialists, civil engineers, and facility managers during infrastructure installation and modernization projects.

  • Maintain generator configuration records, equipment histories, technical manuals, and standard operating procedures.

  • Train Government personnel on generator operation, preventive maintenance, and emergency power procedures.

  • Promote operational safety, preventive maintenance, energy resilience, and continuous process improvement supporting expeditionary power systems.

  • Support geographically dispersed and austere operational locations requiring reliable emergency and primary power generation capabilities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting generator maintenance, diesel engine repair, industrial equipment maintenance, power generation systems, or mechanical maintenance for Government or Department of Defense programs.

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Joint, Combatant Command, Service Component, or Special Operations organizations.

  • Experience maintaining tactical generators, commercial generators, backup power systems, or industrial power generation equipment.

  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Experience interpreting technical manuals, wiring diagrams, maintenance procedures, and equipment specifications.

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose equipment failures and restore operational capability while supporting mission timelines.

  • Active Secret Clearance

Desired:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree in Diesel Technology, Power Generation Technology, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline is preferred.

  • Experience supporting USSOCOM, SOCPAC, Geographic Combatant Commands, Joint Task Forces, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), or Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC).

  • Experience supporting Indo-Pacific operations, expeditionary basing, contingency infrastructure, remote facilities, or distributed logistics operations.

  • Experience utilizing load banks, digital multimeters, generator diagnostic software, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, and electronic maintenance management applications.

  • Knowledge of diesel engine systems, electrical generation, automatic transfer switches, fuel systems, preventive maintenance programs, NFPA 70E, OSHA standards, and Department of Defense facility maintenance procedures.

  • Professional certifications such as EGSA Certified Generator Technician, ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification, Cummins, Caterpillar, Kohler, or Generac factory certifications, OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, or equivalent power generation certifications are preferred.

  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed Government programs involving OCONUS operations, Special Operations Forces, expeditionary power generation, resilient infrastructure, and mission-critical facilities throughout the Indo-Pacific is highly desirable.
