We are seeking a highly skilled Data Quality Engineer / ETL Test Automation Engineer to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and quality of data across modern data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL, ETL testing, data validation, Python, Snowflake, Databricks, and test automation.
In this role, you will work closely with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Product Managers, and Engineering teams to validate data pipelines, business logic, KPIs, and data quality before releases are deployed to production.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Validate ETL logic, business logic, and data quality across Snowflake, Databricks, Hive, and other data platforms before production releases.
Partner with Data Engineers to identify potential failure points and proactively detect data issues early in the development lifecycle.
Ensure the quality and reliability of every release through rigorous, data-driven testing practices.
Design, develop, and maintain automated and reusable test cases to improve test coverage, increase development velocity, and reduce regression risks.
Translate business and technical requirements into effective test scenarios for validating KPIs, metrics, business rules, and data transformations.
Contribute to and enhance the existing test automation framework, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and reusability.
Validate large-scale datasets and identify data anomalies using efficient and optimized SQL queries.
Collaborate closely with Data Analysts, Product Managers, Data Engineers, and Engineering teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and usability.
Support testing and validation of data pipelines, workflows, and production data environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong experience in data validation, ETL testing, data pipelines, and data warehouse testing in production environments.
Expert-level proficiency in SQL, with hands-on experience querying and validating large-scale datasets, including terabyte-scale data.
Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Hive, and modern data platforms.
Solid programming experience in Python.
Hands-on experience with test automation for data pipelines and data platforms.
Experience or familiarity with Apache Airflow and Apache Spark.
Good understanding of CI/CD principles and software development lifecycle practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify data anomalies and root causes.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working across cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical work experience.
Nice to Have
Experience with BDD frameworks, such as Behave.
Experience working with AWS or other cloud environments.
Familiarity with open-source data quality and validation tools such as Deequ, Great Expectations, or similar custom data quality frameworks.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Knowledge of automated regression testing and scalable test framework design.
