The Role

In line with ongoing and upcoming infrastructure, climate resilience, and sustainable development initiatives, expressions of interest (EOI) are invited for an Environmental Safeguards Specialist position based in Hyderabad, Pakistan .

The role requires a senior environmental professional to provide technical leadership in environmental safeguards, sustainability, assessments, compliance, biodiversity, and climate resilience, ensuring high-quality delivery in line with international standards and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to integrate environmental considerations across planning, design, procurement, implementation, and monitoring.

Suitable applicants will have/be:

• Master’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, Sustainability, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 20 years of relevant environmental experience, including at least 12 years on major infrastructure, environmental management, or sustainable development projects.
• Experience preparing and reviewing environmental assessments, management plans, compliance frameworks, and risk mitigation measures.
• Experience in environmental due diligence, biodiversity and ecosystem assessments-including wetlands, mangroves, and coastal habitats and stakeholder consultation.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, international standards, sustainability frameworks, and best practices.
• Experience in integrating environmental and sustainability requirements across infrastructure planning, design, procurement, and implementation.
• Experience in environmental monitoring, mitigation, climate adaptation, ecosystem management, and reporting.
• Experience on projects funded by international development agencies, donors, or multilateral financial institutions is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to coordinate with clients, contractors, government agencies, communities, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, report-writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
