Job Summary
The Supervisor of Driver Services Instruction is responsible for supervising the field personnel and daily field operations of Driver Services programs throughout California and in emerging markets. The position is responsible for managing the daily activities of all team members to ensure classroom and in-car training is conducted within approved parameters, documentation is completed timely and accurately, student outcomes meet assigned targets, and staff uses available hours productively.

Job Duties

• Direct, coordinate, and control the activities and progress of an assigned team of Driver Instructors. • Interview, screen and hire team members as replacements or additions to staff, as well as direct promotions and terminations. Prepare and conduct performance appraisals. Commend employee progress and/or take appropriate corrective action designed to improve performance or to correct failures in order to meet Club and departmental standards. Supervise employees’ compliance with Club policy, safety procedures, Federal and State laws, including, but not limited to, payroll and attendance, and approve necessary reports in compliance with those laws.
• Analyze current operating activities, and report to management as requested. Monitor quality of instruction in car and classroom. Review survey results for feedback on program/process improvement. Participate in organized and ad hoc meetings for the purpose of recommending changes in operating methods, business plans and training curriculum.
• Direct staff in the handling of member service issues; and resolve elevated service issues, including, but not limited, to conflicts, special service needs, member dissatisfaction, and adverse service conditions.
• Ensure that Driver Services programs are managed effectively and that they are in compliance with applicable state regulations, AAA standards that may apply, and delivered in a manner consistent with ACE member service goals.
• Maintain knowledge of driver safety research, current safety recommendations, and legal requirements.
• Support organizational commitment to on-going leadership development through annual completion of “Leadership Development Units” including, but not limited to, coaching, development, training and maintaining local contingency and disaster-readiness plans for any emergency affecting operations, computer systems, member service or employee safety.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
• Must make decisions in a timely manner that impacts the operations of a diverse workforce. Frequently, decisions are made and actions taken independently regarding staff resource allocation, inter-departmental cooperation, and the member experience. Errors could result in considerable exposure or expense, inconvenience, loss of efficiency, or member confidence. This position is held accountable for the results of these decisions. Some decisions must be made after normal business hours and on weekends when the benefit of consulting with management is not always available. During these non-traditional work hours, they assume the final authority for operations, service, and personnel issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4-6 years Driver training instruction. Required
• Knowledge of AAA products and operations highly desired.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills required.
• Knowledge of current traffic safety trends and driver safety and training practices and theories acquired through degree or through experience in the field of driver / traffic safety.
• Advanced organization, planning, and problem resolution skills required.
• Demonstrate strong coaching, interpersonal, and effective presentation skills. Demonstrate leadership ability to motivate a group of employees towards a desired result.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
• Valid Driver's License, acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles record and minimum liability insurance - Issued by State Required

Travel Requirements

• Local travel by car for driving lessons. Instructor must maintain complete awareness of the driving environment while they manage the student’s driving the vehicle. (40% proficiency)
