Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly skilled attorney to join our dynamic legal team.  As Counsel you will develop legal expertise and establish primary responsibility and accountability for identified projects and/or legal work mainly related to the legal needs of TruStage Investment Management, TruStage’s internal SEC-register investment adviser. You will work with an established team of attorneys, law specialists, and compliance staff in the handling of complex legal matters, under the supervision and guidance of your managing attorney. This individual will also work collaboratively with TruStage Investment Management, other business clients, and other attorneys within the Legal Department.

Job Responsibilities:

• Builds knowledge of the company, processes and customers.
• Manages own workload and provides informal guidance to colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.

• Provide legal advice, opinions and counseling to TruStage.
  • Determine, investigate, research, and analyze all legal aspects of projects.

  • Direct, manage and supervise outside counsel.
  • Represent TruStage before governmental, legislative and regulatory agencies and in trade association relations.
  • Develop legal expertise and high degree of knowledge of TruStage.
  • Develop and interact with key outside contacts.
• Participate in cross functional teams, committees, task forces and special projects.
• Developing a fundamental understanding of financials and dynamics of the specific TruStage entities/business units to which you provide support.
• Translates legal advice into terms that are business focused.

Job Requirements:

• Juris Doctor degree and continuing legal education within areas of specialty and responsibility.
• Authorized to practice law in the State of Wisconsin or applicable jurisdiction.
• Generally, three to five years of legal experience with overall expert (or developing expert) status in specific law areas.
• Developing knowledge and experience in the processes and procedures necessary to effectively represent TruStage in the judicial system, before governmental and regulatory agencies and in legislative bodies.
• Developing knowledge and experience in TruStage operations and corporate affairs, including objectives, strategies, products and programs.
• Good negotiation, analysis, reasoning, creativity, and judgment skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Project management and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to present oneself and interact with others in a manner that inspires trust and invites consultation.
• Demonstrated ability to think and act quickly and perform under significant pressure and deadlines.

Base Salary Range:
