Business Intelligence Data Analyst
Huntsman is seeking a Data Analyst supporting the Global Reporting & Analytics (GRA) environment located in San Jose, Costa Rica. This position will report to the Data Analytics Manager.
Job Scope
The Data Analyst will deliver reporting, analytics, and data-driven insights that enable better business decisions across Huntsman. This role is focused primarily on data analysis and business intelligence, while also providing support for data preparation and working with enterprise data assets on our Databricks-based platform.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and business problem-solving skills with a solid foundation in data management concepts. They are comfortable working with SQL, exploring and validating data, developing Power BI dashboards, and collaborating with stakeholders to understand business processes and reporting needs. Experience with AI-assisted analytics and a curiosity for emerging technologies are highly valued.

In Summary, as a Data Analyst, You Will
Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, business processes, and analytical needs.
Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytical products that support decision-making across the organization.
Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and actionable insights.
Work with curated datasets and data assets within the Databricks platform to support reporting and analytics initiatives.
Write SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data from enterprise data sources.
Perform data quality reviews, reconciliations, and validation activities to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
Support the development and maintenance of semantic models, metrics, and business definitions used across reporting solutions.
Apply AI-enabled tools and techniques to improve analytics, reporting efficiency, data exploration, and user experience.
Collaborate with Data Engineers, and business teams to deliver scalable analytics solutions.
Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver analytical solutions and continuously improve BI and data assets.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
All candidates are expected to work at our office in AFZ, Heredia on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please note that there may be occasions where additional office days are required, due specific business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, or a related field or 4+ years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
2+ years of experience across BI, analytics, or data engineering roles, with demonstrated hands-on experience in both dashboard development and data preparation.
Experience developing dashboards and semantic models in Power BI or similar tool.
Experience working with large datasets to solve business problems and generate insights.
Skills and knowledge
Ability to translate business questions into analytical solutions and actionable recommendations.
Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and analytical techniques.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a passion for understanding data and business processes.
Strong attention to detail, especially regarding data quality, accuracy, and consistency.
Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with financial data, management reporting, or corporate analytics environments.
Experience using SQL for data analysis, troubleshooting, and data validation.
Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Platform, or similar cloud-based data technologies.
Understanding of data modeling concepts and reporting best practices.
Experience using AI-assisted tools for analytics, reporting, automation, or productivity improvements.
Basic experience with Python, data automation, or data transformation activities.
Familiarity with data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and data warehousing.
Experience working in a cross-functional environment supporting multiple business stakeholders.
