Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Application Engineer to support the client’s technical estimating, equipment selection, and tender submission processes. Working alongside senior technical leadership, you will bridge customer requirements with specialized engineering solutions to ensure accurate, high-quality proposals. This role plays a vital part in driving operational growth by expanding the team's capacity to deliver technical support across complex industrial applications.
Responsibilities:
- Assess Customer Requirements: Review incoming technical enquiries, specifications, datasheets, and drawings to determine application scope and operational conditions.
- Select & Size Equipment: Evaluate and select appropriate pumps, side-channel blowers, vacuum systems, compressors, and auxiliary components tailored to client needs.
- Prepare Technical Proposals: Develop technically accurate and commercially complete cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions.
- Communicate Technical Concepts: Directly engage with clients to clarify requirements, explain equipment selections, and gather missing technical details.
- Support Tender & Engineering Documentation: Coordinate with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to compile technical documentation, drawings, and supporting product specifications.
- Expand Product Expertise: Undergo structured technical training to build specialized knowledge of industrial vacuum and fluid-handling systems continuously.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- Experience: Practical background in application engineering, estimating, technical sales support, or a related mechanical engineering role.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated capability in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical datasheets, and complex equipment specifications.
- Analytical Skills: Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Communication: Clear, confident written and verbal English skills for direct client interaction and technical documentation.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Prior experience with industrial rotating equipment, centrifugal pumps, or side-channel blowers.
- Familiarity with vacuum pumps, vacuum systems, compressors, or process fluid-handling systems.
- Proven experience preparing formal technical tenders and proposals.
- Familiarity working with Australian industrial sectors, standards, or engineering businesses.
