Win From Within Program, Surgical Support Technician
Mercy will pay up to $10,000 per year (up to 3 years) for eligible expenses, paid directly to the select school. Funding will be considered for an approved Surgical Technologist Program.
How to Apply!
- Must be enrolled at an eligible ST school and be a Mercy caregiver for at least 3 months.
- Work in a clinical role for at least 16 hours per pay period and remain free of any written disciplinary actions
- Sign a contract that states student will remain at the same Mercy facility for 1-3 years post-graduation, depending on years of school paid.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
None required. One-year clinical experience within a hospital preferred.
Certifications:
BLS required or may obtain within 90 days of hire. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be required per location of employment.
Other: Minimum Physical Requirements
Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift
Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Safety/Risk Management:
Follows Mercy policy and procedures related to safety, confidentiality, and patient rights/regulations.
Demonstrates knowledge of and practices sound infection prevention techniques.
Assesses safety needs and provides for a safe environment: ex: Fall Precautions; Restraint Management; Patient Identification; Unit/Departmental Specific Policies; Safe Patient Handling
Participates in Quality Improvement activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care.
Technology:
Utilizes unit specific technology to perform daily tasks and maintain appropriate communications (ex: computer, pagers, zone phones, Rover, etc.).
