Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It's where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities, and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find the inspiration to create a life they love. As a member of our Legal team, you'll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward.
We're looking for an experienced, self-motivated, practical, and creative lawyer to join our small and nimble team. In this role, you'll support product and engineering teams across Pinterest's core consumer experience and/or ads ecosystem—serving as a subject matter expert and influential advisor to senior business and legal leadership alike. You'll drive strategy on cutting-edge legal issues in generative AI, privacy, IP, digital advertising, and beyond.
We're also looking for someone who embraces AI as a core part of how they work—bringing curiosity, sound judgment, and an experimental mindset to using AI tools to drive efficiency, accelerate problem-solving, and operate with greater speed and impact.
What you’ll do:
- Partner with strategy, engineering, product management, communications, and legal teams to identify and manage legal issues and risks during all stages of product development; become embedded with those teams to provide pragmatic and strategic advice as the product areas evolve.
- Advise teams on key emerging areas including privacy, digital advertising, AI, IP/copyright, content acquisition, and data use.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex strategic product partnerships and commercial agreements critical to Pinterest's growth.
- Translate complex legal frameworks into simple, actionable guidance that empowers teams to innovate with confidence.
- Monitor and interpret relevant laws and regulations (GDPR, CCPA, FTC rules, and others); help teams implement compliant processes.
- Build deep, trusted relationships with senior leaders across product, engineering, and business development, influencing decisions and shaping Pinterest's strategy.
- Develop scalable legal processes, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to deliver high-quality guidance with greater speed and consistency.
What we’re looking for:
- Juris Doctorate with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in a demanding and innovative legal environment; at least 1–2 years in-house at a tech company preferred.
- Experience counseling on digital advertising/ad tech or core consumer product legal issues—some exposure to both is ideal. Some privacy background required (GDPR, CCPA, FTC rules, and related).
- Experience leading the negotiation of major technology and commercial deals, especially those tied to advertising, data, commerce or other tech partnerships.
- Exceptional judgment and impeccable integrity with excellent communication and client-service skills.
- Proven ability to build lasting, collaborative relationships across product, engineering and business teams.
- Strategic thinking with a track record of delivering creative and pragmatic solutions to novel issues.
- Proven ability to pick up new areas of law and technical product knowledge quickly.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to build sustainable programs and drive cross-functional initiatives to completion.
- An AI-forward mindset, with experience using AI tools to accelerate analysis and deliver more effective legal advice.
- Bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
