Work Location

This is a hybrid position based in Mexico City, Mexico. Team members are expected to work from our Mexico City office three days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days.

Job Summary

This position is on the team building StrongDM, now part of Delinea—the universal access management platform that secures and audits access to databases, servers, Kubernetes clusters, and web applications. As a Software Engineer, you will bring solid working knowledge of distributed systems and backend development in Go to StrongDM’s proxy and control-plane platform, working independently to devise solutions for problems of diverse scope while your work is reviewed at key milestones. You will report to the team’s engineering manager.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, build, and maintain highly concurrent, distributed backend services in Go (Golang) that power StrongDM’s proxy data plane (gateways and relays) and control-plane platform.

• Apply sound judgment to evaluate tradeoffs and adapt existing approaches when working through ambiguous or loosely defined technical problems.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and DevOps/SRE partners to translate requirements into working, well-tested code.

• Contribute to the secure handling of network protocols and cryptographic systems (TLS/mTLS, credential brokering, key management) within your area of ownership.

• Participate in code and design reviews, holding a high bar for performance, security, and maintainability.

• Investigate and resolve technical issues in distributed, multi-cloud production environments, collaborating with teammates on the most complex or ambiguous cases.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, plus 3+ years of related experience.

• Working knowledge of Go (Golang), distributed systems, and backend/network service development.

• Experience evaluating tradeoffs and adapting existing approaches to resolve technical issues based on limited information or precedent.

• Familiarity with API design (gRPC/Protobuf and/or RESTful APIs) and core distributed systems concepts.

• Experience with AWS (or another major cloud provider) and cloud-native deployment models.

We’d Love to See:

• Experience with more than one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.

• Familiarity with secure protocols, mTLS/PKI, or secrets management tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault).

• Exposure to proxying database, SSH/RDP, Kubernetes, or HTTP traffic.

• Basic understanding of Zero Trust architecture, just-in-time access models, or policy-as-code (e.g., Cedar).
