Job Summary

Safety-Sensitive Position: Yes (as defined under Oklahoma Statute Title 63 § 427.8

DEFINITION
Under general direction, maintains a regular caseload while providing intense supervision to youths placed in the Intensive Supervision Program(ISP) by performing the following duties.

Job Description

All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the daily intense supervision of youths in the Intensive Supervision Program through personal and telephone contacts.
  • Works with the family, school, Probation Counselor, and other community resources in an effort to maintain the youth trouble free outside the secure Detention facility.
  • Develop a working knowledge of community resources, such as recreational programs, neighborhood centers, school and work opportunities.
  • Appear for court hearings with youth and make recommendations to the court as to his or her eligibility to be placed on the Intensive Supervision Program.
  • Prepare a daily log regarding the activities and behavior of the youth while in the Intensive Supervision Program.
  • Responsible for the supervision of juveniles on Court Deferred Adjudication status.
  • Prepare and file petitions and motions in cases requiring further legal action.
  • Make recommendations to the judiciary and other authorities regarding release, detainment or further legal action.
  • Make arrests of ISP clients when warranted under statue 10 OS 10A-2-4-105.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Skill in developing and establishing interpersonal relationships. 

Knowledge of agency policy and procedure and how they relate to the division and to Title 10 of the Oklahoma Statutes. 

Ability to communicate well with others both orally and in writing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, or a related field; and over 2 years’ experience in working with juveniles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

 Valid OK Driver’s License possessed for at least 6 months.

Defensive Driving through Tulsa County within 6 months of hired.
