Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as an Electronics Engineering Manager 2 based out of Elkridge, MD.

The Electronics Engineering Manager 2 is responsible for leading manufacturing and industrial engineering activities, driving cross-functional alignments, and enabling efficient, high-quality production operations across the site. This role will manage a team of approximately nine engineers and specialists with diverse skill sets and experience levels.

What You’ll Get to Do:

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead a team of ~9 manufacturing and industrial engineers and related staff

  • Actively plan, monitor, and review each team member’s career growth, including performance goals and development plans

  • Develop and maintain individualized development plans and succession plans for key roles

  • Provide timely, ongoing feedback and coach team members to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities

  • Champion training, certifications, cross-training, and stretch assignments to support growth and organizational resilience

Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Leadership

  • Lead the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) group to support efficient, high-quality production operations

  • Hold regular touchpoints with the ME team to identify cross-training and development opportunities

  • Partner with operations to prioritize engineering support, resolve production issues, and improve yield, throughput, and cycle time

  • Ensure ME processes, documentation, and tools support standard work and continuous improvement across lines and shifts

Industrial Engineering (IE) Leadership

  • Lead the Industrial Engineering (IE) group to drive data‑driven capacity and productivity improvements

  • Align with IE on methodologies, metrics, and capacity assumptions across the site.

  • Review and validate time studies, capacity models, and layout/flow proposals from a manufacturability and execution perspective

  • Ensure consistency of ME/IE tools and standards across BWI and Troy Hill and support gap‑closure efforts between sites

Facilities Interface & Site Optimization

  • Communicate manufacturing and IE requirements that impact space planning, utilities, and equipment moves

  • Support layout changes, new equipment installations, and infrastructure upgrades to optimize flow, safety, ergonomics, and material handling

  • Ensure facility changes support current and future production, sustainment, and growth strategies

Cross‑Functional Alignment & Execution

  • Collaborate with operations, quality, programs, supply chain, and facilities to ensure engineering solutions support business objectives

  • Coordinate actions, communicate impact and resolution status to stakeholders, and provide clear status reports to leadership

  • Balance resources across programs and priorities, ensuring appropriate coverage for production, sustainment, and improvement initiatives

  • Drive standardization of processes and tools where appropriate and support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master of Science degree in a related STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, supporting production lines or work cells

  • Experience leading people and/or teams

  • Experience with communication and organizational leadership skills and collaborating across operations, quality, facilities, and programs

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP)

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active/Current U.S. Government Security Clearance

  • Prior experience as a functional manager, group lead, or IPT/operations lead with people leadership and technical responsibility

  • Experience running a manufacturing work cell or engineering group, including resource planning and production support.

  • Experience with capacity analysis, time studies, layout/flow optimization, or related industrial engineering activities

  • Experience working with facilities engineering and site planning teams on layout, equipment moves, and infrastructure projects

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies and use of data/KPIs to drive operational improvements

  • Experience supporting multi‑shift operations and coordinating engineering coverage for off‑shift/weekend activity

Primary Level Salary Range: $153,800.00 - $230,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
