Diesel/Shop Mechanic

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanic to perform mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, and servicing of heavy equipment, trucks, and other motorized equipment. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Repair and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized equipment.
Carry out work assignments following daily briefings with the Shop Foreman.
Minimize equipment downtime, including delays related to parts, tools, and other resources.
Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
Record mileage, hours, date, and detailed work/repair descriptions.
Ensure all documentation is legible, accurate, and understandable.
Route emergency repair requests to the Shop Foreman to ensure priority assignments are properly addressed.
Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.
Maintain tools and equipment in a neat and orderly condition.
Actively participate in team-based assignments to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Travel
Travel may be required to and from other locations for work assignments, training, seminars, and meetings.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated maintenance experience with heavy equipment and/or track, trailers, cranes, or similar equipment.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in at least two technical areas, including but not limited to:
- Hydraulics
- Electronics
- Small engines
- Air conditioning
- Other related mechanical areas
- High School Diploma/GED and trade school, dealership, or factory service training in diesel mechanical repair/maintenance equivalent to an associate degree.
- Training and experience equivalent to 2 years of technical/vocational school and 5 years of hands-on repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
- Strong drive for achieving results and the ability to convey a sense of urgency when appropriate.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to understand, write, and communicate effectively.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, walking, talking, sitting, standing, kneeling, climbing, and carrying materials/parts.
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Ability to work extended hours when required.
Regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
Loads exceeding 50 pounds that can be reduced should be made lighter.
Assistance is required when lifting items weighing more than 75 pounds or items that present ergonomic challenges during lifting, movement, or placement.
Required Certifications & Licenses
Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Professional certifications related to the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment.
Other certifications as may be necessary to accomplish assigned responsibilities.
