Organizational context:
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in donor database management, CRM administration, fundraising operations and data analysis within UNHCR's Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) programme in Mexico.
The Individual Giving programme relies on accurate donor information, efficient payment processing, and high-quality data to support donor acquisition, retention and donor development activities. The intern will work closely with the Data Management team, contributing to the daily operation of Salesforce, Finhub and other fundraising platforms while supporting data quality, reporting and operational processes.
This position provides hands-on experience in CRM management, fundraising technologies, payment operations, donor segmentation, and data governance within an international humanitarian organization.
The position:
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented, and analytical individual with a strong interest in data management, CRM systems, and fundraising operations.
The intern will support the Data Management team by ensuring data quality, maintaining donor records, supporting recurring donation processes, preparing donor segmentations and contributing to the operational efficiency of the Individual Giving programme.
Duties and responsibilities:
The intern will support the daily operation of the Individual Giving programme while contributing to the preparation and implementation of the CRM migration project from the local Salesforce instance to the Americas Regional Salesforce. Duties will include:
• Support the CRM migration project by documenting business processes, reviewing existing data structures, assisting with data mapping and migration activities, supporting data cleansing initiatives, validating records, and contributing to user acceptance testing (UAT) and other project activities required during the assessment and implementation phases.
• Support the weekly processing of recurring donation updates in Finhub and Salesforce, including cancellations, donor retention outcomes, refunds, payment method updates and other donor record changes, by performing bulk data uploads and updates while ensuring data accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
• Provide first-level support to Salesforce users from the Donor Care and Donor Development team by resolving operational tickets related to donor record updates (merges, duplicate management, tax receipt requests, user access and other CRM-related issues)
• Carry out manual data cleansing activities in Salesforce prior to the monthly programme closing to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy.
• Perform data quality checks by comparing datasets, validating records and identifying inconsistencies using Excel, database queries and other analytical tools.
• Generate donor segmentations and prepare data extracts for donor engagement, retention and fundraising campaigns requested the different fundraising teams.
• Support the management and reconciliation of payment chargebacks across different payment platforms, including Stripe, PayPal and offline payment channels.
• Support the manual offline collection process and payment retries through bulk uploads and updates in Salesforce.
• Prepare operational reports, data extracts and routine analyses to support decision-making within the Individual Giving programme.
• Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum qualifications required:
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO1; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR2.
• Not have exhausted the maximum cumulative internship period with UNHCR, including any prior internships (8 months for full-time and 12 months for part-time)

Desirable qualifications and skills:
•First Required Language is English at B2 level
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•High attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
•Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas, data validation, lookups).
•Experience working with large datasets.
•Knowledge of SQL or database querying is desirable.
•Familiarity with CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) is an asset.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
•Good organizational and administrative skills.
•Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
•Interest in fundraising, nonprofit organizations and humanitarian work.
Conditions:
It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday (35 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team in PSP Mexico, based in Mexico City.
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
Travel: Unless provided or paid by external sponsoring entities, UNHCR reimburse interns engaged from a location outside of the country of the duty station for the ticket costs of their outward and return travel to/from the duty station by the most economical route available on economy class, irrespective of the duration of the journey. Reimbursement shall be limited to the authorized outward and return travel between the intern’s country of residence and the intern’s duty station, or actual route of travel, whichever is lower.
Before travel is undertaken, the selected intern must obtain authorization in writing from the hiring office. Such authorization must include the approved cost of the ticket.
Internships normally last two to six months with the possibility of extension up to eight months for full-time internships and twelve months for part-time internships.
Obligations:
Acquiring and renewing current visas, residence permits including all associated costs, obtaining medical certification and compliance with taxation requirements (if applicable), are the responsibility of the intern.
The selected candidate will need to provide UNHCR with a proof of health insurance coverage applicable to the assigned internship location and a certificate of good health from a qualified medical practitioner certifying their fitness for work and travel. In the event the selected candidate is not able to produce the required certificates, they will not be admitted to the Internship Programme.
