Responsible for supporting leaders through delivery of value-added analysis, research and reporting to provide business understanding and control, including provision of market risk models and analytics and ensuring regulatory compliance in order to support the team's core accountability of delivering independent daily exposures, profit and loss (P&L) reporting and analysis of trading activities.
We are seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Commodity Risk Analyst to join BP Business Service Centre Asia Sdn Bhd. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing commodity price exposures, ensuring compliance, and contributing to strategic decision-making through insightful market analysis and risk assessments.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive commodity risk analysis, identifying, measuring, and monitoring market risks across various portfolios.
- Develop and implement effective commodity risk management strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Utilize data visualization and interpretation techniques to present complex risk information clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the enhancement of internal control and compliance frameworks related to trading activities.
- Collaborate with trading desks, finance, and other internal teams to understand market dynamics and risk profiles.
- Conduct in-depth market research, analyzing sentiment and trends to inform risk assessments and trading strategies.
- Apply portfolio analytics to evaluate risk concentrations and performance of commodity portfolios.
- Identify and assess operational risks associated with commodity trading and develop mitigation strategies.
- Promote a culture of trade discipline and compliance within the organization.
- Contribute to thought leadership within the risk management function, proposing innovative solutions and best practices.
- Continuously enhance understanding of trading fundamentals and their impact on commodity markets.
- Support the development and implementation of new risk models and analytical tools.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives related to risk management.
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven experience in commodity risk management, market risk management, and operational risk.
- Proficiency in data visualization and interpretation tools and techniques.
- Solid understanding of internal control and compliance principles.
- In-depth market knowledge of global commodity markets.
- Experience with portfolio analytics.
- Ability to analyze sentiment and trends effectively.
- Strong understanding of trading fundamentals and trade discipline and compliance.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- A track record of creativity and innovation in risk management approaches.
- Demonstrated thought leadership in previous roles or projects.
