We are looking for an experienced Asset Surveyor to join our Asset Management team and play a key role in ensuring we have accurate, up-to-date information about the condition of our homes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your surveying and construction knowledge to help shape future investment and improvement programmes. You’ll be responsible for carrying out stock condition surveys across individual properties, blocks and communal areas, identifying defects, assessing risks and providing recommendations that help us target investment where it is needed most.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across Asset Management, Technical Services and Delivery, using your knowledge and experience to ensure our property data is accurate, meaningful and supports effective long-term investment decisions.

Requirements

Outline of key responsibilities of the Asset Surveyor....

  • Carry out detailed stock condition surveys of occupied and vacant properties, including internal, external and communal areas.
  • Assess property condition, identify defects and recommend appropriate remedial or improvement works, including estimated costs.
  • Survey properties in relation to HHSRS, Decent Homes and relevant housing standards.
  • Maintain accurate stock condition and property attribute information, including uploading data using asset management systems and handheld technology.
  • Work with Technical and Asset Management colleagues to develop effective planned maintenance and improvement programmes.
  • Provide accurate survey information to help ensure investment is targeted at properties with the highest priority.
  • Produce clear reports and provide advice on stock condition, property attributes and survey programmes.
  • Contribute to service reviews and continuous improvement initiatives, helping to ensure services remain customer and tenant focused.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors, suppliers, tenants and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure tenant consultation and involvement is considered throughout service delivery.
  • Work safely and in line with relevant policies, procedures and legislation.

We are looking for someone who has....

  • Experience working within a construction-related environment.
  • Experience carrying out stock condition surveys on individual properties and blocks, including internal, external and communal areas.
  • Knowledge of building practices and policies, including Decent Homes and HHSRS.
  • Experience using handheld technology and software to plan and record survey information.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to produce clear written reports and correspondence.
  • Good numeracy skills, including the ability to calculate quantities and costs.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
  • A self-motivated and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently.
  • Integrity and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.

  • Salary: £36,568 per annum
  • Office base will be Wakefield, you will be responsible for properties across the Yorkshire and Humber region
  • You will be working on site for the duration of your working week
  • Working arrangements are flexible in line with our Smart Working culture, helping us deliver an excellent and accessible service to our customers across the region.
  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 32 days after 5 years' service
  • 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday
