We are seeking a skilled Aerospace Tool Designer with 3–5 years of experience in aerospace tooling, fixture design, and mechanical design. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Tool Design and CATIA, along with a solid understanding of aerospace manufacturing requirements and design practices. You will be responsible for designing and developing precision tooling, fixtures, and related components that support aerospace manufacturing and assembly processes.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop aerospace tooling, fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing aids using CATIA.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and manufacturing documentation for aerospace tools.
- Work closely with manufacturing, production, quality, and engineering teams to develop practical and manufacturable tooling solutions.
- Understand engineering specifications, design requirements, manufacturing processes, and customer standards while developing tooling.
- Perform design modifications, tolerance analysis, and optimization of existing tools to improve functionality, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Support the complete design and development lifecycle, from concept development and detailing through design validation and release.
- Design and develop welding fixtures and other specialized fixtures used in aerospace manufacturing and assembly.
- Ensure tooling designs comply with applicable aerospace standards, engineering specifications, and quality requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and resolve technical issues related to tooling, fitment, assembly, and manufacturability.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams during tool fabrication, assembly, installation, and tryout activities.
- Review drawings and manufacturing feedback and incorporate necessary design changes.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawing revisions, BOMs, and design records.
Must-Have Skills
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in Aerospace Tool Design or a closely related mechanical design function.
- Strong hands-on experience in Tool Design for aerospace manufacturing or assembly applications.
- Proficiency in CATIA, including 3D part modeling, assembly design, surface modeling, and 2D drafting.
- Good understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, tooling concepts, fixtures, and assembly requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Strong mechanical design fundamentals with an understanding of materials, tolerances, fabrication, and manufacturability.
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and its practical application in tooling and fixture design.
- Experience in Design & Development of aerospace tooling from concept to production.
- Hands-on exposure to welding fixture design and fabrication requirements.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and documentation practices.
- Understanding of tolerance stack-up, inspection methods, and tool validation processes.
- Experience supporting tool fabrication, assembly, tryout, and troubleshooting activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant experience in aerospace tooling and mechanical design.
The successful candidate should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, design ownership, and the ability to translate manufacturing requirements into reliable and efficient tooling solutions.
