As a Waiter/Waitress onboard the Eastern & Oriental Express, you will play an important role in delivering an exceptional dining and beverage experience that reflects the highest standards of luxury hospitality. You will be responsible for providing personalised and attentive service to our guests throughout their journey, from taking accurate food and beverage orders to providing knowledgeable recommendations and responding to individual requests. Working closely with the Food & Beverage team, you will help ensure seamless service, maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation, and contribute to creating a memorable and unforgettable experience for every guest onboard.

Your responsibilities include:

• Providing personalized and attentive food and beverage service to guests throughout their journey onboard the Eastern & Oriental Express.

• Taking accurate food and beverage orders while attending to guests’ dietary requirements, special requests, and preferences.

• Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and wine pairings, to provide appropriate recommendations.
• Delivering professional, courteous, and seamless service in accordance with Belmond’s luxury service standards and LQA requirements.
• Engaging with guests in a warm and welcoming manner, responding promptly to enquiries and requests to create a comfortable and memorable dining experience.
• Maintaining a thorough knowledge of the services and facilities available onboard to effectively assist guests throughout their journey.
• Ensuring food and beverage areas, workstations, and back-of-house areas are maintained in a clean, neat, and organized condition at all times.
• Handling service equipment and resources responsibly to minimise breakage, wastage, and unnecessary loss.
• Working closely with the Restaurant, Bar, Kitchen, and onboard teams to ensure smooth coordination and efficient service delivery.
• Supporting other operational duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the train and the overall guest experience.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, health and safety, quality, railway safety, and environmental standards and procedures.
• Maintaining professional grooming, appearance, conduct, and service standards in line with Belmond’s luxury hospitality expectations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in Food & Beverage, hospitality, restaurant, hotel, or related service environments will be an advantage.
• Strong customer service skills with a genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
• Good knowledge of food and beverage service, including the ability to understand menu items and provide appropriate recommendations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with guests and colleagues.
• Able to understand and respond effectively to guests’ requests, including dietary requirements and special requests.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, personal grooming, and presentation.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team and support colleagues across different operational areas when required.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment and adapt to operational requirements.
• Strong awareness of food safety, health and safety, and workplace procedures.
• Willingness to comply with company policies, service standards, railway safety requirements, and mandatory training.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Flexible attitude and willingness to undertake additional duties as required to support smooth train operations.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.

Interest in staying current with industry trends, such as advancements in rail technology and sustainability initiatives.
