Requirements

About The Role:

We are seeking a casual Master IV to join our team. In this role, you will safely operate and navigate our vessels, lead onboard operations, ensure compliance with maritime regulations, and deliver exceptional guest experiences through professional service and engaging commentary.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide informative and engaging onboard commentary, sharing local knowledge, history, wildlife, and points of interest throughout the cruise.
  • Maintain responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all passengers, crew, and contractors on board.
  • Ensure compliance with the Safety Management System (SMS), vessel certifications, and all regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct pre-departure checks, safety briefings, emergency drills, and incident reporting as required.
  • Monitor weather, sea, and operating conditions to ensure safe and efficient voyage planning and execution.
  • Lead, supervise, and support crew members, ensuring high standards of performance, presentation, and service delivery.
  • Oversee vessel cleanliness, maintenance reporting, and operational readiness.
  • Complete all required vessel logs, operational documentation, and compliance records accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with guests, crew, and shore-based teams to ensure the smooth delivery of daily cruise operations.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a proactive and customer-focused team player with a positive attitude. You will be confident using technology, able to manage competing priorities, and possess the leadership skills to motivate a team and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

To be successful in this position, you will be required to hold:

  • Relevant experience within the marine tourism industry (essential)
  • Experience as a Vessel Master operating in Perth coastal waters inc. Swan River (highly desirable)
  • Current AMSA issued Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 45m Near Coastal) (essential)
  • First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Current AMSA Medical
  • The ability to work varied hours across a 7-day roster, including weekends and public holidays
  • Valid Drivers Licence (essential)
