The position is for a CPRI Underwriter within the CPRI London Market operation. The role will have both personal and collective responsibility for supporting the growth and profitability of the CPRI portfolio.   The position involves the underwriting of business in line with CPRI appetites as well as developing and maintaining relationships with London & International Brokers and clients.

Job Responsibilities & Competence

  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet planned underwriting results, through proactive account review, analysis of underwriting trends and improvement plans to maintain profitability.

  • Negotiate account participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers.

  • Underwrite in line with CPRI Global framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles.

  • Support development and execution of the CPRI global underwriting and marketing strategies.

  • Work closely with the Head of Political Risk, International and Global Head of CPRI, to drive development opportunities and achieve a balanced portfolio

  • Contribute to the identification and development of new products and new geographic territories for expansion of the CPRI book.

  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business through both market and one-on-one meetings with our Insureds / potential Insureds.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key Brokers & Insured’s. This is to include both UK and overseas travel on behalf of CPRI global team.

  • Supporting coaching, training and developing of Underwriting Assistants and Assistant Underwriters to continually improve their technical and trading capability and development of a market leading team

Qualifications & Capabilities

  • Reasonable standard of education

  • Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of CPRI and related issues through form and informal learning

  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload and meeting deadlines and that of the team

  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers

Experience

  • Relevant underwriting experience within the International CPRI marketplace as a CPRI underwriter at a multi-line property and casualty insurer or Export Credit Agency or similar experience in the trade and export finance field.

  • Understanding of CPRI insurance market with knowledge of trade finance structures and political risk insurance.

  • Knowledge and experience working on emerging and frontier market economic, political and credit issues. 

  • Strong process management discipline.  Establishes priorities, anticipates problems, determines completion dates, knows and communicates the status of assignments; manages time effectively; uses the services of others effectively.

  • Team player with a strong collaborative orientation; ability to build strong relationships across an organization.

  • Technical underwriting expertise with regards to wording, regulatory environment and financial analysis

This role will be based in London, UK and you are required to have the necessary right to work details prior to application.
