We’re looking for a hands-on and reliable Truck Preparation Assistant to join our MTD team in Palmerston North looking after our Volvo and Mack brands. This is a great opportunity for someone with a practical or trade background who enjoys working with vehicles and takes pride in getting the job done right.
You’ll play an important role in making sure our new and used trucks are prepared, fitted out and presented to a high standard before they head to our customers.
The Role
Reporting to the Sales Support Manager, you’ll work closely with the Logistics Coordinator, who coordinates the team’s daily workflow to ensure new and used vehicles are groomed to a high standard of cleanliness, undertake minor light engineering adjustments and repairs and to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Preparing, cleaning and detailing Mack and Volvo trucks for customer delivery
- Assisting with truck fit-outs and modifications, including basic installation and preparation work
- Supporting technicians with accessory and modification work as required
- Carrying out basic checks of vehicles to identify any issues with presentation, fit-out or general condition
- Ensuring trucks are clean, complete and ready for customer handover
- Moving vehicles around the yard and workshop as required
- Assisting with general workshop duties
- Keeping work areas and yard clean, tidy and organised
- Following all health, safety and quality procedures
- Working closely with technicians, sales and other team members to ensure trucks are delivered on time and to a high standard
- Assisting with truck deliveries, when required
Who are you?
We’re looking for someone who is practical, mechanically minded and takes pride in their work.
Ideally you will bring:
- Some previous trade, automotive, mechanical or heavy vehicle experience would be ideal – not necessary
- Current, unrestricted NZ Class 4 driver licence essential
- The ability to understand basic vehicle components and carry out thorough visual checks
- An eye for detail and the confidence to flag anything that doesn't look right
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to get stuck in
- Good attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
- A commitment to working safely and following procedures
Experience with truck fit-outs, vehicle modifications, accessories or workshop environments would be an advantage.
