Summary:
We are looking for a Siemens OT Layer Solution Architect with 12+ years of experience and strong expertise in industrial automation, control systems, plant-floor architecture, Siemens OT platforms, industrial networks, and manufacturing integration. The candidate will lead solution architecture, technical delivery, and client engagement for OT modernization, Smart Manufacturing, Connected Factory, and Digital Twin programs across Automotive, Aerospace, CPG, Life Sciences, Resources, and General Manufacturing. Strong hands-on expertise is required in Siemens SIMATIC, TIA Portal, WinCC, Industrial Edge, industrial communications, and integration with MES/MOM, historians, IoT, and enterprise platforms. The role also requires experience in OT program leadership, engineering governance, global team management, client engagement, PoCs, feasibility studies, RFP/RFI responses, technical workshops, demonstrations, and business development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead architecture, engineering, implementation, commissioning, and lifecycle support of Siemens-based OT solutions.
Define scalable plant-floor architectures covering field devices, drives, safety, PLCs, I/O, HMI/SCADA, historians, networks, edge, and manufacturing systems.
Lead Siemens automation design using SIMATIC S7, TIA Portal, WinCC, Industrial Edge, and related engineering tools.
Assess brownfield/greenfield environments and define migration, standardization, target architectures, and rollout strategies.
Translate manufacturing and operational requirements into control, visualization, connectivity, data, and integration solutions.
Establish standards for PLC/HMI/SCADA, motion, drives, safety, alarms, interlocks, software libraries, and engineering documentation.
Integrate Siemens OT with MES/MOM, ERP, PLM, WMS, QMS, EAM/APM, historians, IoT, Digital Twin, analytics, and cloud platforms.
Design industrial connectivity using PROFINET, PROFIBUS, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, Industrial Ethernet, and APIs.
Implement data contextualization, Unified Namespace, edge processing, and OT data governance.
Embed OT cybersecurity and resilience covering segmentation, DMZ, secure access, identity, hardening, backup, redundancy, recovery, and monitoring.
Lead legacy modernization, migration, FAT/SAT, testing, virtual commissioning, startup, and production stabilization.
Conduct site assessments, PoCs, feasibility studies, workshops, architecture reviews, vendor evaluations, and demonstrations.
Govern OT engineering standards covering coding, configuration, naming, documentation, testing, version control, releases, and change management.
Provide technical leadership to automation, controls, SCADA, network, cybersecurity, and system-integration teams.
Support senior client engagements, RFP/RFI, solution proposals, estimation, partner coordination, and commercial discussions.
Manage multi-site delivery risks, dependencies, quality, milestones, commissioning readiness, and stakeholder expectations.
Develop reusable Siemens reference architectures, libraries, templates, standards, accelerators, and deployment patterns.
Drive measurable outcomes including higher availability, reduced downtime, faster commissioning, improved diagnostics, stronger security, standardization, and lower lifecycle costs.
Professional and Technical Skills:
Siemens OT & Automation: Strong hands-on expertise in Siemens OT architecture, SIMATIC S7-1200/S7-1500 and legacy S7, TIA Portal, distributed I/O, and control engineering.
HMI/SCADA & Edge: Experience with WinCC Unified/Professional/OA, Siemens Industrial Edge, data acquisition, alarm management, historians, and operational diagnostics.
PLC & Motion: Proficiency in Ladder, FBD, SCL, reusable software libraries, SINAMICS drives, motion control, safety PLCs, safety I/O, and machine interlocks.
Industrial Networks: Strong knowledge of PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Industrial Ethernet, OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, and fieldbus technologies.
Plant Architecture: Understanding of Purdue/ISA-95, industrial DMZ, segmentation, high availability, redundancy, and enterprise-to-plant integration.
OT Cybersecurity: Knowledge of IEC 62443, defense-in-depth, secure-by-design, asset management, hardening, remote access, patching, backup, and vulnerability management.
Manufacturing Integration: Experience integrating OT with MES/MOM, Siemens Opcenter, historians, time-series platforms, Unified Namespace, data contextualization, and enterprise systems.
Smart Manufacturing: Knowledge of Industry 4.0, Digital Twin, virtual commissioning, Industrial IoT, edge computing, Industrial AI, and connected operations.
Siemens Engineering Tools: Exposure to SIMIT, PLCSIM Advanced, Process Simulate, Plant Simulation, Teamcenter, or equivalent technologies is an advantage.
Equipment & Operations: Understanding of instrumentation, sensors, actuators, motor controls, robotics, machine vision, production, maintenance, quality, utilities, and energy management.
Architecture & Delivery: Strong solution design, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, OT engineering lifecycle, Agile, governance, quality, configuration, and change management.
Leadership & Client Engagement: Proven global team leadership, stakeholder management, workshops, presentations, technical documentation, and partner coordination.
Solutioning: Experience with site assessments, PoCs, feasibility studies, technical evaluations, RFP/RFI, estimation, and proposals.
Industry Experience: Automotive, Aerospace, CPG, Life Sciences, Resources, Utilities, or General Manufacturing.
Business Outcomes: Ability to translate OT expertise into standardized rollout models, actionable recommendations, and measurable operational improvements.
Additional Information:
Experience: 12+ years of overall experience with significant experience in Siemens automation, OT architecture, control systems, SCADA, industrial networks, manufacturing integration, or plant modernization.
Location: Bengaluru, India.
Travel: Willingness to travel internationally and to client manufacturing sites based on project requirements.
Team Leadership: Proven experience leading technical and multidisciplinary engineering teams across controls, automation, SCADA, networks, cybersecurity, MES, data, and commissioning.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Automation, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Preferred Certifications: Siemens SITRAIN or relevant Siemens automation certifications, IEC 62443, ISA-95, functional safety, industrial networking, PMP/PMI, or related professional certifications.
