Technical Advisor

Job Description

As a Technical Advisor, you will serve as SailPoint's principal-level identity security strategist for the enterprise. Your mission is to own the multi-year platform adoption roadmap, architecting unified governance across human, machine, and AI agent identities. You will ensure that every deployment of SailPoint's Identity Security Cloud, Agentic Fabric, and adjacent capabilities translates into measurable business value—quantified as breach risk reduction, compliance efficiency, and operational cost avoidance.

Who You Are

You are a trusted technical strategist and a peer to customer CISOs, CIOs, and VP-level engineering leaders. You possess an innate ability to translate complex technical realities into strategic business risk language that drives executive decision-making. As a thought leader in the identity security space, you are driven by professional growth and learning agility. You demonstrate a continuous commitment to expanding your domain mastery, exploring emerging technologies, and engaging with industry developments across identity governance, AI agent security, and enterprise architecture. You are an authoritative voice whose insights shape customer decisions, product strategies, and industry standards.

What You Will Do

In this principal-level role, you will bridge the gap between technical architecture and business value. You will guide strategic enterprise accounts through complex identity governance transformations, addressing modern challenges that span human identities, machine identities, and emerging AI agents. You will partner closely with Customer Success Managers to align technical strategies with commercial outcomes, providing the architectural evidence and value quantification necessary to support renewals and expansions. Furthermore, you will identify cross-account patterns and synthesize these into actionable frameworks that influence SailPoint's product roadmap and engineering efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Platform Adoption Roadmap Ownership: Design and maintain multi-year platform adoption roadmaps for strategic accounts, sequencing deployments across Identity Security Cloud, Agentic Fabric, Machine Identity Security, Data Access Security, and Harbor Pilot based on customer maturity and business priorities.
  • Unified Identity Governance Architecture: Architect comprehensive identity governance models spanning human, machine, and AI agent identities, ensuring cohesive policy frameworks, consistent lifecycle management, and integrated access controls.
  • Executive Technical Advisory: Act as the trusted technical advisor for C-suite and VP-level engineering leaders, engaging on identity security strategy, regulatory architecture, and technology investment prioritization.
  • Value Realization Quantification: Define, implement, and maintain value measurement frameworks. Quantify identity security outcomes (breach risk reduction, compliance gains, cost avoidance) and present these in quarterly executive reviews.
  • Agentic Identity Governance Advisory: Guide customers through the design and deployment of AI agent identity governance using SailPoint Agentic Fabric, including agent discovery, risk-tier classification, and least-privilege enforcement.
  • Regulatory Compliance Translation: Translate regulatory requirements (DORA, NIS2, SEC cyber disclosure, SOX, HIPAA) into actionable identity governance architectures, ensuring compliance through platform capabilities.
  • Cross-Account Pattern Synthesis: Identify recurring governance challenges and architectural anti-patterns across enterprise customers, distilling them into reusable frameworks and strategic intelligence for Product Management and Engineering.
  • CSM Strategic Partnership: Partner with Customer Value Partners to align technical strategy with commercial outcomes, providing data that supports renewal justification and expansion business cases.
  • Thought Leadership & Knowledge Contribution: Author technical strategy content, present at customer advisory boards, contribute to SailPoint's body of knowledge, and mentor less senior advisors.

Education & Experience

Note: As specific educational requirements were not listed in the capability model, the following reflects standard industry expectations for a principal-level advisory role in this domain.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in identity and access management (IAM), identity governance and administration (IGA), and enterprise security architecture.
  • Industry-recognized cybersecurity and architecture certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, TOGAF, CISA) are highly preferred.
  • Relevant SailPoint platform certifications are strongly desired.
