Tax Lawyer in Corporate (Ref: CORP-A)

Role Overview

Specialist tax lawyer within the corporate team, assisting in tax advice across corporate transactions and commercial matters. The role requires a commercially minded individual who can deliver clear, practical, and technically robust tax assistance with knowledge in corporate taxation, VAT and international taxation, eager to develop knowledge and experience to assist in the following areas:

  • Transactional Tax Advisory: Advise on all tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, reorganizations, and demergers; Conduct of tax due diligence.
  • Corporate Structuring and Reorganisations: advise on tax implications of group restructurings, holding company arrangements, and corporate simplification exercises; identify and implement tax-efficient structures for domestic and cross-border operations; navigate relevant anti-avoidance provisions and international tax frameworks.
  • Tax Compliance: assist clients with advice on tax compliance obligations in connection with corporate transactions.
  • Commercial Agreements: review and advise on the tax implications of commercial contracts, partnership and shareholder agreements.
  • Client Relationship Management: build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser on tax matters; Manage client expectations and deliver advice within agreed timescales; identify opportunities for proactive tax planning.
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with colleagues across the corporate, banking, real estate, litigation and employment teams to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary advice; stay abreast of legislative and regulatory developments in tax law and share insights with the wider firm.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree in law - Bulgarian qualified.
  • Admission to Bulgaria BAR.
  • Additional specialisation in Taxation is a plus.
  • At least one year of prior experience in tax law at a reputable law firm.
  • Proficiency in Bulgarian and in English.
  • Good knowledge of local and EU tax laws.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Good oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with legal research software and tools.
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical and critical-thinking skills.
