The Space & Airborne (SAS) Center within Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking Technical Writer Engineers.  The LCE Technical Writer Engineers is responsible for developing and delivering logistics data, provisioning data, technical data, technical publications, and training system materials for Space and Airborne Systems programs in support of final sell-off to the customer. This position is an onsite role in El Segundo, California.

 

What You Will Do

• Coordinate Logistics, Provisioning, Technical Publications, and Training System development efforts
• Work with Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and other related disciplines to gather and create documentation on complex electronic systems
• Support quality assurance efforts, assemble documentation for audits and ensure that documentation is compliant with appropriate regulations
• Maintain documentation standards and keep abreast of current information by associating with professional individuals or societies or by reviewing professional publications, newsletters, e-mail, and internet sites
• Interpret military specifications and plan compliant deliverable materials
• Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders
• Maintain engineering technical manual databases
• Coordinate engineering tag up and meetings between the Program, System Engineering, and Chief Engineer
• Participate in periodic team meetings, interface teleconference meetings, working group meetings
• Travel, not to exceed 20%.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in science (B.S.) or greater in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and two years of writing experience in a technical field with an emphasis on logistics and technical documentation
• Experience interpreting engineering schematics, flow diagrams, and requirements specifications
• Background in creating, editing, and maintaining online/web‑based documentation
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

• Airborne Radar Systems
• Mil-Spec/S1000D Technical Publications development. Level 4 IETMs
• Technical illustration, graphics, and 3D animation development
• ADDIE instructional systems design
• Conduct front‑end analysis and training system requirements analysis
• Aircrew and maintenance training device design, development, sustainment, operation, and instruction
• Experience delivering classroom, hands‑on/over the shoulder, and live flight instruction
• HTML, XML, PDF, Excel, Frame Maker, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word and MS Office applications, Eagle DB, Eagle Publishing Suite
• US and International military programs

The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
