Position Description

This position leads large team of experienced Procurement professionals or team leaders, overseeing RFPs, negotiation strategy, cost accountability, and/or program execution. Develops programs for effective vendor selection and management to minimize the organization’s purchasing costs without compromising quality or reliability of supply. Directs resolution of client issues or problems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages execution of processes, standards, and operational plans in support of Procurement goals, including RFPs, negotiations, cost accountability, and / or program execution.
  • Responds to critical client issues and problems.
  • Monitors suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries to ensure resolution of problems such as shortages and missed or late deliveries.
  • Authorizes purchase orders, negotiates prices and approves payments to ensure the procurement process goes smoothly.
  • Shares accountability for the planning, development and execution of major supply chain initiatives and industrial procurements throughout the global organization consistent with the related prime contract, business plan or annual operating plan.
  • Manages the supply chain function of the organization. 
  • Maintains a strong emphasis on performance-based supplier relationships.
  • Presents program status at program reviews and to senior leadership, communicating with all levels of the organization.
  • Lead the development of detailed project plans, host regular project reviews with supply chain teams and other stakeholders, including SBU executives.
  • Responsible for collaborating in a cross-functional, highly matrixed environment in order to advance the multiple projects within their scope.
  • Responsible for serving the team as a point of escalation, coach and mediator.
  • May manage moderately sized projects or processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.  In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Data management skills and experience with Excel (V-lookups, Pivot tables, etc) and Power Point
  • A general understanding of Aerospace drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes
  • Prior Leadership experience
  • Knowledge of export/ITC regulations and policies is preferred as well over a basic knowledge of RTX work transfer standard work (COL 0008)
  • Technical degree and MBA degree
  • 15+ years’ experience in a program management or cost reduction or supply chain role or Mechanical manufacturing in the Aerospace Industry
  • Experience with SAP
