Structural Steel Fitter Welder

Starting Pay: $24/hour, higher depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: +$3/hour
Position Overview
We are hiring experienced Structural Steel Fitter Welders for a production fabrication shop. This hands-on role involves preparing and assembling steel components, working from fabrication drawings, performing structural welds, and ensuring finished assemblies meet required dimensions and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Review fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications before starting each assignment.
Measure, mark, cut, fit, and position structural steel components.
Assemble steel parts and verify proper fit-up and alignment.
Perform structural welding according to project requirements and applicable standards.
Set up and operate fabrication equipment, machinery, and hand tools.
Use oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.
Set up and operate a track torch when required.
Check dimensions, alignment, fit-up, and completed weldments for accuracy.
Make adjustments as needed to maintain proper fit and quality.
Work with supervisors and other fabrication personnel to meet production schedules.
Keep tools and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Follow all required shop safety procedures and workplace practices.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
Hands-on experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel.
Familiarity with welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop tools.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate measurements.
Reliable attendance and commitment to safe work practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a production-oriented fabrication environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Flux Core welding experience.
Ability to successfully complete a Flux Core weld test.
Experience setting up and operating a track torch.
AWS or other welding certifications.
