FOX Television Stations (FTS) owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations, including stations in 14 of the top 15 markets and duopolies in 11. Eighteen are FOX Network affiliates, and together the stations produce approximately 1,300 hours of local news every week. FOX LOCAL, the company's free ad-supported digital and streaming product, extends that news, weather and local content across connected TV & mobile devices. JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX 32 Chicago/WFLD is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and innovative Streaming Producer to join our News team. This role is ideal for a curious, creative journalist who understands how audiences consume news across streaming, digital, social, and linear platforms.

The Streaming Producer will help develop engaging, conversational live-streaming concepts and produce content that informs, connects with, and serves Chicago audiences. This position requires strong news judgment, excellent writing and storytelling skills, and the ability to recognize when a conversation should continue, change direction, or end. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking calculated risks, testing new ideas, learning from results, and continually improving the viewer experience.

 

This is a hands-on role that may require flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and coverage during breaking news.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and produce engaging live and on-demand streaming content for FOX Chicago and FOX LOCAL.
• Investigate and gather ideas for local Chicago stories that matter to our community.
• Develop conversational streaming concepts, interview questions, segments, and audience-focused formats.
• Quickly identify compelling angles, ask thoughtful follow-up questions, and guide conversations in real time.
• Source, organize, and prepare video, graphics, user-generated content, and other visual elements.
• Manage video editing and content-production workflows from concept through publication.
• Write clear, compelling, and accurate content for digital, streaming, and linear platforms.
• Ensure live streams and newscasts run smoothly while maintaining quality, accuracy, and editorial standards.
• Collaborate with reporters, anchors, producers, directors, photographers, editors, and digital teams.
• Monitor audience engagement and use performance insights to improve content and coverage.
• Publish and promote content across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X/Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, and emerging platforms.
• Respond quickly and effectively to breaking news, developing stories, and changing editorial priorities.
• Maintain a strong commitment to journalistic ethics, accuracy, fairness, and community service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• A minimum of two to three years of experience in a producing, digital journalism, streaming, or related newsroom role.
• Experience developing and publishing news content for digital and social platforms.
• Strong writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
• Excellent news judgment and a commitment to factual accuracy.
• The ability to generate creative ideas and present information in an original and engaging way.
• The ability to think quickly, ask probing questions, and make sound editorial decisions in real time.
• Familiarity with live-streaming production, digital publishing, video editing, and social media workflows.
• The ability to quickly learn and effectively use various newsroom, editing, publishing, and production software systems.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines.
• The ability to respond well to direction, feedback, and changing priorities.
• Dependability, professionalism, and a willingness to work a flexible schedule.
• The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER

• Experience line producing a live newscast or stream.
• Experience producing conversational, interview-driven, or audience-interactive programming.
• Experience with FOX LOCAL, CTV, OTT, or other streaming platforms.
• Experience with live control-room operations or newsroom automation systems.
• Experience using analytics to evaluate content performance and guide editorial decisions.
• Experience creating short-form vertical video for social platforms.
• Experience covering Chicago news, neighborhoods, politics, public safety, culture, or community issues.
• Familiarity with video-editing, graphics, rundown, content-management, and social-publishing tools.
• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, broadcasting, or a related field.

Working conditions

• Work is performed in a fast-paced newsroom and live-production environment.
• The position may require evening, overnight, weekend, holiday, and extended-hour work.
• The schedule may change based on breaking news, special coverage, weather, and station needs.
• The role may require working under tight deadlines and adapting quickly to changing editorial priorities.
• Occasional field work or travel within the Chicago area may be required.
• This position may require working onsite and collaborating across newsroom, studio, control-room, and digital-production areas.

Physical requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while producing or monitoring live content.
• Ability to use computers, phones, production systems, and other newsroom equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to communicate clearly in person, by telephone, and through digital communication tools.
• Ability to move throughout the station and, when assigned, work in field locations.
• Ability to lift or carry light production materials and equipment as needed.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $80,000.00-90,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
