Our procurement organization plays a key role in enabling reliable operations, responsible sourcing, and sustainable growth across our global footprint. This Strategic Sourcing Manager role is critical to ensuring continuity, value creation, and strong supplier partnerships that support Agilent’s operations worldwide.

Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic and results‑driven Strategic Sourcing Lead – Indirect Procurement (MRO) to lead global category strategies for Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO). This is an individual contributor role focused on indirect sourcing, with a strong emphasis on contract negotiation, supplier management, and cross‑functional collaboration.

The role is responsible for developing and executing global and regional sourcing strategies, leading complex sourcing initiatives, and partnering closely with business stakeholders to deliver cost optimization, risk mitigation, supplier performance, and long‑term value. In addition to MRO, this position will provide flexible sourcing leadership across other indirect spend categories as needed to support evolving enterprise priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Market Leadership

  • Develop and execute global category strategies for MRO, including industrial supplies, spare parts, tools, and related services.

  • Conduct supply market and cost analysis to inform sourcing decisions and long‑term category roadmaps.

  • Create and deploy regional or enterprise‑wide sourcing strategies aligned with business and operational objectives.

  • Lead end‑to‑end strategic sourcing activities, including RFI/RFP/RFQ processes, supplier evaluations, and negotiations.

  • Establish and manage global framework agreements to drive standardization, leverage scale, and maximize total value.

  • Identify and implement cost reduction, value engineering, and demand management initiatives.

  • Ensure category strategies address current and future business needs, positioning procurement as a value‑adding partner.

Supplier Relationship & Performance Management

  • Manage strategic supplier relationships at a global or multi‑regional level.

  • Lead commercial and contractual negotiations, including complex service and indirect spend agreements.

  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and maintain supplier performance scorecards.

  • Assess and mitigate supply risks through structured risk reviews, dual‑sourcing strategies, and supplier diversification.

  • Promote strong supplier partnerships aligned with Agilent’s values, compliance requirements, and sustainability goals.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, and regional procurement teams.

  • Collaborate with site and regional stakeholders to ensure sourcing strategies support operational continuity and long‑term growth.

  • Provide guidance on procurement governance, contract compliance, and supplier issue resolution.

  • Build strong internal relationships across sites and regions to ensure alignment and effective execution.

Financial & Operational Impact

  • Deliver annual cost savings and cost avoidance targets aligned with enterprise goals.

  • Monitor market trends, commodity indices, and supply market dynamics to proactively adjust strategies.

  • Track and report key performance indicators, including savings delivery, compliance, supplier performance, and risk mitigation.

Extended Support Across Indirect Categories

  • Provide sourcing leadership across additional indirect categories as required by the Indirect Procurement organization.

  • Lead cross‑category initiatives, transformation efforts, and enterprise procurement projects.

  • Support regional sourcing needs while maintaining alignment with global procurement strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.

  • Demonstrated experience in indirect procurement, including contract negotiation and supplier management.

Preferred / Advantageous

  • Post‑graduate degree and/or professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, APICS/CSCP, or PMP.

  • Experience managing MRO categories within life sciences, medical device, laboratory, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of MRO spend categories, including industrial consumables, spare parts, maintenance services, calibration services, gases, chemicals, and lab equipment support.

  • Experience leading complex negotiations, long‑term supplier agreements, and cost optimization initiatives.

  • Experience working with global suppliers and multi‑region sourcing strategies.

  • Proficiency with ERP and procurement platforms (e.g., SAP, Ariba) and spend analytics tools.
