What We Do

  • Support faculty members in the preparation, review, and submission of research proposals.
  • Interpret and effectively communicate sponsor guidelines to ensure compliance with all requirements.
  • Budget preparation and compliance verification with sponsor regulations and Texas A&M University System Member policies.
  • Coordinate and compile proposal materials in collaboration with internal and external collaborators.
  • Ensure accurate final proposal preparation, review and submission while adhering to strict deadlines.

What You Need to Know

Salary: $65,000 - $72,000

Location: SRS offices are located in College, Station, Texas

Qualifications

SRS Quality Control Research Administrator III

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of related experience in research administration, grant budgeting, proposal submission processes, ensuring data integrity and quality control through meticulous documentation and process improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CRA®, CPRA® certification
  • Experience in reading and interpreting sponsor guidelines
  • Experience in submitting proposals through electronic research administration portals
  • Experience in preparing budgets for research grants
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel, Adobe, and MS Word
  • Six years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Review proposals for compliance with sponsor requirements and regulations. Assess program announcements and determine pertinent proposal requirements with minimal direction.
  • Develop a basic understanding of compliance areas such as human subjects, animal subjects, Recombinant DNA, and Export Controls.
  • Ensure proposals and complex supporting documentation are complete before submission. Coordinate with researchers, department/unit heads, deans, directors, and staff to resolve proposal issues and provide requested information
  • Prepare supplementary proposal documents, including those with national and/or international components, with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare proposal revisions and respond to requests related to proposal submissions.
  • Assist researchers with the submission of proposals, including entering proposal information into required submission systems (e.g., Grants.gov) and financial systems.
  • Develop proposal budgets and prepare internal proposal packages in support of proposal administrators during periods of high proposal volume or staffing needs, ensuring compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements.
  • Process and submit proposals with abbreviated sponsor turnaround times by coordinating with investigators to prepare complete and accurate information
  • Develop, update, and maintain sponsor-specific proposal checklists and guidance documents for administrators to support consistent proposal preparation.
  • Communicate changes in sponsor regulations, institutional policies, and proposal submission requirements to administrators.
  • Maintain and update presentations, templates, and other educational resources used for Proposal Administrator training, faculty outreach, and sponsored research education initiatives
  • Mentor Staff and student workers.

SRS Quality Control Research Administrator IV

Responsibilities

  • Review proposal packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with sponsor, federal, state, and Texas A&M University System member requirements prior to submission. Interpret funding opportunity announcements to verify that proposal components meet all submission requirements. Review proposal budgets and budget justifications to ensure budget calculations are accurate, costs are allowable, and budget narratives are consistent with the detailed budget. Confirm compliance with internal proposal submission processes by verifying institutional requirements have been satisfied before proposal submission. Act as the primary point of contact for pre-award administrators in relations to proposal quality control. Coordinate administrative and financial details with researchers, department heads, deans, and other university staff, focusing on Pre-Award Quality Control issues. Interpret sponsor regulations, federal and state laws, and institutional policies. Work with the Assistant Director on workload management, effort management, and staff training.
  • Prepare supplementary proposal documents, including those with national and/or international components, with minimal supervision. Prepare proposal revisions and respond to requests related to proposal submissions. Assist researchers with the submission of proposals, including entering proposal information into required submission systems (e.g., Grants.gov) and financial systems. Communicate changes in sponsor regulations, institutional policies, and proposal submission requirements to administrators. Maintain and update presentations, templates, and other educational resources used for Proposal Administrator training, faculty outreach, and sponsored research education initiatives. Review proposal commitments documents to ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines. Provide financial and regulatory guidance on complex issues to researchers, departments, and administrative offices.
  • Train and mentor staff and student workers on the process of proposal reviews. Support staff by providing recommendations on pre-award training. Develop and present recommendations on policy and procedure development and contribute to strategic planning. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the research administration team.
