Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Application Engineer to build, deploy, and optimize cloud-native applications in Azure and AWS, leveraging DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This role is pivotal in driving scalable, reliable, and secure solutions that align with cloud transformation initiatives and agile development practices. This role is instrumental in accelerating time to market for critical applications, improving delivery pipelines, and supporting enterprise-wide cloud transformation. The ideal candidate has strong experience with DevOps toolchains, containerized environments, and infrastructure as code (IaC), and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Cloud-Native App Deployment: Design, build, and maintain modern, cloud-native applications using services like Azure App Services, AKS, AWS ECS/EKS, and serverless platforms (e.g., Lambda, Azure Functions).
Automation & CI/CD Pipelines: Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Harness) to automate application build, testing, and deployment workflows.
IaC & Environment Provisioning: Collaborate with infrastructure teams to define and consume IaC modules (Terraform, Ansible) to provision environments consistently across dev, QA, and prod.
DevSecOps Enablement: Implement security scanning and quality gates into pipelines (e.g., SonarCloud, Checkov, Jfrog, Snyk) and collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance.
Observability & Performance: Instrument applications for monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, and Grafana. Proactively identify and remediate performance bottlenecks.
Builds Cross-Functional Relationships: Work closely with software developers, infrastructure engineers, and automation teams to support agile product delivery and cloud strategy execution.
Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain detailed documentation of deployments, processes, and standards. Advocate and enforce engineering best practices across teams.
Knowledge and Skills
Proficiency in Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms
Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Harness, Jenkins
Strong scripting ability (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash, YAML)
Hands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS), and containerized deployments
Understanding of serverless architectures, PaaS, and container orchestration
Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Familiarity with DevSecOps, including integrating security into DevOps workflows
Experience working in hybrid cloud environments (on-prem + cloud)
Understanding of agile methodologies and modern SDLC practices
Experience with disaster recovery, blue/green and canary deployments
Environment and/or Physical Factors
Ability to travel with in the U.S. / U.K up to 5% of the time
For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$100,000 - $163,000/year
Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
