Job Description:

The Sourcing Manager supports various BP businesses with a range of medium-high, low complexity and strategic sourcing & contracting activities. In addition to sourcing, this role is responsible for developing supplier relationships, proactively identifying value opportunities and providing professional guidance to the broader team under his/her leadership.

This includes demand management, definition of sourcing strategy based on a predefined category framework, source selection, contract negotiation, and contract creation & operationalization via Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM).

The role contains leadership responsibilities; the Sourcing Manager will manage a team of sourcing leads and sourcing analysts and look after key stakeholder relations and act as point for escalation.

 

The ideal candidate has a strong team leadership background and extensive experience in logistics-related services and commodities, including but not limited to:

• road transportation,
• rail transportation,
• marine transportation and vessel services,
• warehousing,
• freight forwarding,
• supply base services,
• other logistics-related services.

 

The candidate should also have strong experience in managing sourcing projects and proven knowledge of the given spend categories and marketplace, coupled with a strong commercial orientation, communication and stakeholder management skills. 

Key Accountabilities

The Sourcing Manager will manage a team, responsible for the logistics and related categories for various bp Businesses, besides providing professional direction, coordinating team operations and managing performance, the job holder will also lead more complex end-to-end Sourcing activities as per business request, will handle inclusive of the following activities by self and via the team:

• Demand Management
• Case Management
• Case Progression & Case Performance
• Sourcing Strategy
• Leading RFx
• Supplier Selection
• Contracting
• Contract Operationalization

Across all activity sets, it is paramount to ensure that stakeholders are engaged throughout the process and that all requests and Scopes of Work fully meet business requirements.

 

Value focused operations management 

• Driving and maximizing value for BP across the spend categories and activities managed 
• Ongoing tracking and reporting of value delivery (eg. savings) 
• Operational Excellence by ensuring stable, effective and customer-focused service delivery 
• Effective management of the activity triage & workflow with the Business Partners, resource allocation and backup
• Constantly achieving and delivering against the agreed Performance objectives incl. the respective Key Performance Indicators  
• Ensuring effective escalation management in line with the agreed operating model 
• Ensuring processes are embedded & adhered to consistently in the team 
• Ensuring team process and procedure documentation is maintained and updated real-time
• Take an innovative approach and lead continuous process improvement initiatives, working closely with other leaders across the Procurement organization
• Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels within the organisation, customers and external service providers 

• Comply with BP’s Code of Conduct, taking a professional and disciplined approach to working with suppliers, to ensure transparency, consistency and fairness. Our procurement and supply chain management principles are always applied within that framework and in the context of relevant laws and regulations

• Monitoring and assuring compliance to BP Business Controls and SOX requirements 
• Ensuring all processes are compliant with relevant ISO accreditation
• Ensure activities comply with all BP’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) policies and procedures

 

Professional leadership, team development

• The Sourcing Manager will have people management responsibilities, conduct performance appraisals and performance management
• The job holder is expected to provide coaching and professional guidance to his/her wider Team and proactively contribute to the development of sourcing capability and knowledge in S2C Procurement

• As leader of the team, role model effective sourcing execution via being involved and managing complex sourcing projects incl. supplier negotiations 

• Active involvement in task allocation and workload management of the team
• If delegated by the Sourcing Manager, act as the point of escalation for specific categories, sub-categories, or regions supported by the team
• Effectively represent the Team in the respective categories in conversations with our stakeholders and suppliers
• Represent the Team and support junior team members in communication and engagement with senior stakeholders
• Drive and coordinate issue resolution in complex scenarios and propose improvement initiatives that deliver long-term solutions
• Drive usage of effective and up-to-date procurement techniques, tools and digital technologies, AI

Working Hours: This role operates on a shift basis, with working hours from 1:00PM - 10:00PM MYT.

Essential Education

• Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience is required (preferably in business studies) 
• Master Business Administration (MBA) is an advantage 
• Procurement related professional certification is an advantage

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience in sourcing products and/or services
• Category specific experience (Logistics and related goods and services) 
• Minimum 3 years people/team leadership experience, preferably in a multinational/global environment
• Experience with e-procurement platforms, AI productivity and autonomous procurement solutions, workflow tools (Salesforce) and ERP systems (eg. Ariba) is an advantage
• Broad understanding of negotiation strategies & techniques coupled with strong negotiation skills  
• Excellent written & oral communication skill in English is a must
• Highly motivated and ambitious to drive value and Business partnering
• Strong business mindset and commercial acumen
• Strong and proven stakeholder relationship management skills in engaging senior management  
• Passion to motivate, develop and retain people 
• Transformational mindset and ability to drive change 
• Good time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
