Job Overview
About Engineering at Mitratech Legal Solutions
Mitratech's engineering organization is a collaborative and dynamic environment where engineers have the autonomy to drive technical direction and innovate. Our engineers are passionate about building high-quality, scalable software solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and the legal technology industry. We're in the middle of an active shift toward AI-augmented engineering — using AI agents and tooling across the SDLC — and our quality engineers play a key role in shaping how that transformation happens.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer in Test at Mitratech, you will safeguard the quality of our software products through a balance of automated and manual testing. You will design and maintain Playwright-based test automation, partner closely with developers to drive issues to resolution, mentor junior QA team members, and help evolve our QA practices, including the use of AI-assisted tooling. You will have a significant scope of impact, raising the quality bar across multiple teams.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and maintain Playwright + TypeScript end-to-end test frameworks that follow the team's engineering standards for structure, naming, and reusability
- Develop and execute test plans and scripts, and perform integrated testing to confirm new features and fixes meet business requirements before and after release
- Migrate existing Selenium test suites to Playwright, replacing brittle XPath selectors with Playwright's recommended user-facing locators
- Integrate Playwright test suites into CI/CD pipelines, including parallel execution, sharding, retries, and publishing of test reports and artifacts
- Investigate and stabilize flaky tests using Playwright's Trace Viewer, UI Mode, screenshots, and video recordings
- Work closely with developers to report issues clearly, track them to resolution, retest, and communicate results
- Review product release notes and related documentation for accuracy
- Mentor junior QA team members and recommend QA methodologies that improve efficiency and quality
- Use AI agents and assistants (such as Claude, Devin, and Copilot) to accelerate test exploration, authoring, and debugging, applying sound judgment on when to trust versus verify AI-generated output
What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 5–8 years of test automation experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript, including the Playwright Test runner, fixtures, the Page Object Model, and project configuration (browsers, workers, retries)
- Solid command of Playwright locator strategies, auto-waiting, web-first assertions, and network interception and mocking
- Experience with Selenium, Postman, and TestRail
- Experience with regression, smoke, system, integration, and user acceptance testing
- Proficiency in authoring, reviewing, and executing manual, ad hoc, and exploratory test cases
- SQL skills for validating and preparing test data
- Experience running automated tests in CI/CD, including Azure DevOps YAML pipelines with test result publishing, artifacts, and scheduled and PR-triggered runs
- Experience with GitHub or Azure DevOps source control
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding and testing tools such as Claude, Devin, Copilot, and Playwright MCP
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have
- Agile, Scrum, and TDD practices
- BDD frameworks using Gherkin
- Playwright CLI tooling (test runner, codegen, trace and report viewers)
- REST API testing with Insomnia or comparable tools
- Scripting with PowerShell
- Working knowledge of C#/.NET sufficient to read application code
- Computer science fundamentals, object-oriented concepts, and design patterns
- Familiarity with Azure
The Stack Context
- Test automation: Playwright + TypeScript (migrating from Selenium)
- Application: primarily .NET/C# backend services with web front ends
- Data: PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server as the primary relational stores
- CI/CD: Azure DevOps YAML pipelines; workloads run across AWS and Azure, depending on product line
- AI tooling: agentic coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot) in active pilot across engineering
Why This Role
As a Software Engineer in Test 3 at Mitratech, you'll help ensure the quality of software that shapes our customers and the legal tech industry. You'll have autonomy to improve how we test, mentor junior engineers, and elevate quality practices across a collaborative team. You'll also help define what AI-native quality engineering looks like at Mitratech — from tooling to culture — as we transform how we build software.
