Company Overview
LevelUp is a specialist agency providing outsourcing solutions to agencies, software vendors, and website owners. For over seven years, we have successfully collaborated with a variety of companies, providing valuable technical, operational, and back-office support. We have a large team of skilled and passionate professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality work for our clients.
Position Overview
We are seeking a mid-level Software Developer (often referred to as a Next.js Developer) with 3 to 5 years of commercial production experience to join our team.
In this role, you will not just be working through a rigid ticket queue—you will have real end-to-end ownership of systems, make critical technical decisions, and see them through. You will collaborate directly with our Head of Operations, our Product Lead, and our Founder/CEO to translate delivery requirements and rough designs into beautiful, functional, and secure web applications.
This is a full-time, remote position based in the Philippines, working with our team in Brisbane, Australia. Your working hours will align with the Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) shift (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), allowing for close daily collaboration while enjoying the flexibility that an asynchronous-first working style provides.

Responsibilities
Application Development: Design, build, and ship robust, high-quality web applications using Next.js and modern JavaScript, ensuring clean CSS structures and a strong focus on responsive layouts.
Component Translation: Take rough designs, wireframes, and delivery requirements and shape them into highly usable, well-structured, and maintainable components and interfaces.
Integrations & Data Tooling: Build and maintain secure integrations between major HR/payroll platforms, client databases, and our own internal tooling.
Cloud Operations (Azure): Deploy, manage, and run applications in our Microsoft Azure environment, leveraging app services, storage accounts, Entra ID (identity), and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
Quality Assurance: Write and maintain automated tests, and actively participate in code reviews both as an author and a constructive reviewer.
Production Support & Debugging: Monitor production systems, investigate issues proactively, and implement permanent fixes targeting root causes rather than temporary symptoms.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with consultants, project managers, and internal stakeholders to contribute to technical decisions, provide estimates, and thoroughly document what you build.
Security & Compliance: Handle sensitive employee and payroll information with the highest degree of judgment, discretion, and compliance with data privacy best practices.
Requirements
Next.js & React Expert: 3 to 5 years of demonstrated commercial experience building and shipping production-grade applications. You must have deep practical knowledge of routing, data fetching, rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, ISR), and the React ecosystem.
Modern JavaScript & TypeScript: Strong proficiency in modern ES JavaScript, asynchronous programming patterns, and API utilization. TypeScript is highly regarded and expected for writing clean, type-safe code.
Frontend & CSS Craft: A strong eye for interface detail, responsive design, and accessibility (a11y) basics. You can write CSS that is built to be maintained and can take a raw wireframe and make it feel like a polished, complete interface.
API & Systems Integration: Solid experience building and maintaining integrations (REST, GraphQL, Webhooks) between third-party platforms and internal tools.
Automated Testing & Code Quality: Proven experience writing automated unit/integration tests and taking an active, non-ego-driven role in code reviews.
Security Conscious: Safe, production-proven habits regarding managing environment variables, encryption, secrets, and handling highly sensitive employee and payroll data.
Superb Written Communication: Exceptional written English is a hard requirement. You must be able to document your work thoroughly and explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical colleagues in plain, clear language.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent commercial experience.
Desirable - Azure Infrastructure: Hands-on experience deploying and operating on Microsoft Azure (App Services, Storage Accounts, Entra ID, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions CI/CD).
Desirable - Atlassian Tooling: Comfort using Jira and Confluence for task management, sprint planning, estimation, and central documentation.
Desirable - Python: Basic to intermediate skills for integrations, data transformations, and migration tooling.
Desirable - HR / Payroll Domain Exposure: Any experience integrating with human resources information systems (HRIS), applicant tracking systems (ATS), or payroll systems is a massive plus.
