ITW Medical, a division of ITW, is comprised of two highly respected brands- Coeur and Filtertek, supplying critical filtration and flow control solutions to global OEM’s, serving Surgical, Infusion, Bioprocessing and Diagnostic Imaging end markets.

General Accountability

The Shift Supervisor is accountable for safe, compliant, and efficient operations. The Shift Supervisor owns shift safety execution, staffing and attendance management, shift handoff communication, end-of-shift reporting, hourly production performance versus plan, coaching and development of team, and maintains a visible leadership presence on the production floor. The Shift Supervisor directly supervises Lead Operators and Operators assigned to the shift.

12-hour weekly rotating night shift: 7:00pm - 7:00am

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday

Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise Lead Operators and Team. Cascade and drive daily expectations to Lead Operators regarding safety, quality and production goals, including conversion cost improvements.

  • Drive execution of Front-to-back initiatives, especially in-lining projects that drive cost savings for the shift.

  • Lead shift operations to meet production schedules, own hourly attainment, monitor labor efficiency, downtime, scrap, throughput, and productivity metrics.

  • Define standard practices and expectations in partnership with Operations Manager to minimize scrap, rework, and expedited freight and to drive consistency in our production processes.

  • Accountable for shift safety, staffing, attendance, labor deployment, production performance, coaching and development, communication, and overall shift results.

  • Own staffing, attendance management, labor allocation, coaching, development, accountability, and daily operational execution.

  • Support performance management activities in partnership with HR and Operations leadership, including writing performance reviews, merit goals, timesheet approval requests, and disciplinary actions.

  • Ensure compliance with procedures and quality requirements. Partner with Quality on investigations, material holds, containment actions, corrective actions, and audit preparation.

  • Own safety execution, conduct floor observations, address unsafe behaviors and conditions, lead incident response, and drives corrective actions to closure.

  • Oversee JHA (Job-Hazard Assessment), JST (Job-Specific Training) and retraining processes. Take action to confirm employees are being held accountable to safety and performance expectations.

  • Implement expectations around start-ups and set-ups.

  • Partner with site management team and engineers to ensure on-time delivery of quality parts by navigating operational challenges and opportunities.  

  • Demonstrates strong initiative for self-development, shift development, continuous improvement, and ITW toolbox application.

  • Coaches, mentors, and develops talent by providing tools and techniques that improve their effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • 3-5 years of related experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment overseeing production.

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent .

  • Knowledge and ability to read and understand instructions for ERP system and data recording. 

  • Understanding of ISO standards.

  • Strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office. Ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets, charts, and graphs.

  • Requires detailed analysis and strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.  

  • Ability to compute ratios and percentages. 

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including verbal and written communication skills.

  • Associate or Bachelor degree and regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
