The Shift Lead leads the assigned facilities shift and maintains safe and stable data centre operations until formal handover to the incoming Shift Lead. The role coordinates Shift Engineers, inspections, BMS monitoring, maintenance, vendor escorts, access control, incidents, emergency response, operational records, customer requests and escalation.

The ideal candidate will combine hands-on M&E and BMS knowledge with practical team leadership. The role requires accurate reporting, strong procedure discipline and the ability to coordinate troubleshooting and recovery under time-critical conditions.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Lead and deploy the shift team: Allocate manpower for inspections, BMS duties, vendor escorts, maintenance and customer requirements; maintain adequate coverage and operational discipline.

·        Manage shift handover and records: Review handover information with the incoming shift and ensure alarms, isolations, works, defects and follow-up actions are clearly communicated; complete, synchronise, print and archive required logs and records.

·        Coordinate inspections and monitoring: Ensure all scheduled rounds and daily inspection records are completed; maintain continuous BMS monitoring and physical verification of data halls, critical M&E rooms and plant areas.

·        Control environmental and cooling performance: Monitor temperature, humidity, chilled-water supply temperature, condenser-water pumps, cooling towers, chillers and duty/standby configurations; escalate abnormal conditions immediately.

·        Lead alarm and incident response: Ensure alarms are promptly acknowledged and verified; direct Shift Engineers during troubleshooting, isolation, recovery and stabilisation; provide continuous updates through approved channels and contact standby support as required.

·        Maintain incident and defect control: Prepare initial incident chronology, impact and recovery information; maintain event logs from detection to closure; update problem, defect and Check & Confirm records with clear owners and actions.

·        Enforce access and safety requirements: Prevent unauthorised entry, ensure restricted-area doors are controlled, stop unsafe or unauthorised work, and enforce PPE, PTW, MOP, risk assessment and site safety requirements.

·        Support customers and management: Acknowledge and coordinate Service Desk, customer and vendor requests within SLA; escalate unresolved risks, defects, repeated alarms and manpower concerns to the Facilities Supervisor.

·        Develop team capability: Provide technical guidance and coaching, support EOP drills and documentation, and assist the Facilities Supervisor with reporting, incident review, maintenance coordination and competency development.
