About this Senior Software QA Engineer role at Nahc
Our client is an established proprietary trading and technology firm that is expanding its engineering capabilities in Taiwan.
The firm combines quantitative research, systematic and discretionary trading strategies, and long-term technology investment. Its engineering environment is highly technical and collaborative, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, risk management and continuous improvement.
They are now looking for a Senior Software QA / SDET / Test Automation Engineer to take ownership of the quality engineering strategy across their trading and research technology.
This is a hands-on software engineering role, rather than a traditional QA position. You’ll be responsible for designing and building automated testing frameworks, developing testing infrastructure and improving the way quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.
You’ll work closely with software engineers, quantitative researchers, traders and operations teams to understand complex systems, identify areas of risk and build effective automated testing solutions.
What you will do:

Designing, building and owning automated test frameworks for backend services, APIs and user-facing applications

Developing automated functional, integration and performance testing capabilities

Working closely with engineering, research, trading and operations teams to define quality requirements

Identifying weaknesses in existing test coverage and driving improvements across the development lifecycle

Promoting a shift-left approach to testing, helping engineering teams identify issues earlier in development

Participating in architecture and system-design discussions to improve testability

Validating system correctness, reliability and performance under high-throughput and low-latency conditions

Developing testing tools and infrastructure rather than simply writing or executing test cases

Contributing to engineering standards and best practices around automated testing
What you will need:

5+ years of experience in QA automation, SDET or software test engineering

Demonstrable experience designing and building an automation framework from scratch, including the underlying architecture and technical decisions

Strong programming ability in at least one of Python, TypeScript, Go or C++

Experience using programming languages to build test frameworks, tooling and infrastructure — not simply writing test scripts

Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design and automation architecture

Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines

Previous experience within trading, fintech or financial technology, ideally involving systematic trading or other complex, data-intensive systems

Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with software engineers and research teams
Nice-to-haves:

Experience with Playwright, Pytest or similar modern automation frameworks

Performance and load testing experience using tools such as k6 or Locust

Experience testing low-latency, high-throughput systems

Background in systematic trading, quantitative finance or crypto/Web3

Experience applying AI/LLMs to software testing, such as AI-assisted test generation, automated failure analysis or testing/evaluating non-deterministic AI systems

Working knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases

Experience testing data warehouses, data lakes or streaming/data pipelines
-
Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog or Grafana
