Job Description – Senior Social Safeguards Expert (Road & Highway Project)

Position: Senior Social Safeguards Expert
Experience: 15+ Years
Project: Road & Highway Project

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and implementation of social safeguard activities in accordance with project requirements and applicable regulations.

• Prepare and review Social Impact Assessments (SIA), Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), and other safeguard documents.

• Ensure compliance with national regulations and funding agency environmental and social safeguard frameworks.

• Engage with local communities, government authorities, and other stakeholders to address social issues and facilitate project implementation.

• Oversee land acquisition, resettlement, rehabilitation, and livelihood restoration activities where applicable.

• Monitor social safeguard performance and prepare periodic progress reports.

• Support grievance redress mechanisms and ensure timely resolution of community concerns.

• Coordinate with project teams to integrate social safeguards into planning and execution.

• Conduct field visits, stakeholder consultations, and capacity-building programs.

Qualification & Experience

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, Rural Development, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in social safeguards, resettlement, rehabilitation, or community development for infrastructure projects.

• Experience working on road and highway projects funded by government agencies or multilateral institutions will be preferred.

• Sound knowledge of Social Impact Assessment (SIA), stakeholder engagement, land acquisition, and resettlement frameworks.

• Strong communication, report writing, and stakeholder management skills.
