About this Senior Project Controller role at SLR Consulting

As our new Senior Project Controller, you will be responsible for supporting our Business Unit project managers in the US and Canada in the overall financial control and performance related to the portfolio of projects. You will help project managers solve the financial challenges on projects, and ensure financial risks are addressed early and projects are well-managed.
Success in this role will require strong familiarity with project management, a high level of financial acumen, proficient in Excel, and project management tools and processes, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to effectively support project managers.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Work closely with Business Performance Leader to improve the overall project portfolio financial performance and management.
- Manage early intervention on write-offs, invoicing and cash flow challenges.
- Lead monthly project reviews focused on project financial health, and project clean-up (closures, provision management, write-off forms, WIP transfers, applying retainers, final invoices, etc.)
- Collaborate with Shared Services to improve end-to-end processes across project administration, billing, reporting, and cash collection.
- Support the development of Project Management best practices and guidance documents, and training materials.
- Identify financial risks early and work with project teams to correct issues before they impact cash performance.
- Ensure project compliance and governance.
- Support Project Managers through project initiation to close in Business Support Systems.
- Assist with the preparation of bi-weekly and monthly spending, variance, and project control reports.
- Coach, mentor and develop team members (Project Controllers and Project Coordinators).

- The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000. Final agreed-upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a similar project coordination or controller role
- Proficiency with MS Programs including Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint
- Experience with project cost controls and invoicing
- Experience with Deltek, Tableau and, Power BI is an asset
- Experience working in consulting or the environmental services industry is an asset
- Excellent inter-personal and time management skills
- Post-secondary education or demonstrated relevant experience
- Based in either Toronto or Vancouver with flexible work options
