Senior Manager, Compliance Due Diligence leads a Marcura Know Your Business (KYB), Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Partner (KYP) team, providing supervisory oversight across a multi-layered team structure that spans multiple locations. The role ensures consistent, risk-based due diligence is applied to customers or counterparties of Marcura Group business units, with regulatory obligations met for regulated services and proportionate controls applied across non-regulated services. Reporting to the Marcura Head of KYB, the role acts as the primary interface between Marcura Compliance leadership, business unit management and the operational due diligence teams, driving quality, efficiency, governance and continuous improvement across the function.

Principal Accountabilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the KYB/ KYC and or KYP function, overseeing team managers and their teams to ensure quality, SLA adherence and compliance risk are managed effectively across all Group business units.
  • Review and manage escalations on high-risk cases, sanctions hits and decline or exit recommendations, escalating to the Group MLRO as required.
  • Oversee user access governance for all screening and due diligence systems, ensuring access controls remain appropriate and are regularly reviewed.

Standards, Process & Governance

  • Design, document and implement consistent KYB and KYC processes across all Marcura Group business units, amending them periodically to address evolving regulatory requirements and business needs.
  • Ensure KYB due diligence is applied appropriately across regulated and non-regulated services, and that KYC obligations for regulated services involving individuals are fully met.
  • Map and maintain KPIs and SLAs for the function, reporting against them regularly and providing actionable insights to Group Compliance leadership.
  • Maintain leave planning and operational continuity across the team, coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth running at all times.

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead and develop managers and team leads within a multi-layered structure, setting clear objectives, building leadership capability and ensuring consistent standards and decision-making across teams.
  • Manage recruitment for the function, focusing on hiring candidates of the highest calibre who align with the Marcura Code and Culture.
  • Support succession planning to ensure key roles within the function have identified development paths.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategy

  • Engage business unit management across all Marcura Group business units on compliance projects, initiatives and risk matters.
  • Partner with Group Compliance leadership and Group Management to implement strategic plans that support business unit objectives and Marcura's long-term mission.
  • Provide training and awareness activities for relevant teams across the Group to maintain and improve understanding of KYB and KYC obligations.
  • Customer engagement, presentations and communication, where complex requirements or audits have been requested; whilst collaborating with various Marcura teams to develop new processes where required.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a relevant discipline (Law, Business, Finance or equivalent)
  • CAMS (ACAMS), ICA Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention or equivalent professional AML/KYC/KYB qualification
  • Master's degree beneficial
  • 8+ years in a compliance-related role with demonstrable KYB (business/entity) and KYC (individual) due diligence experience across regulated and non-regulated environments
  • 5+ years management experience, including managing other managers and team leads across remote/multi-location teams
  • Experience in the maritime or shipping sector
  • Experience managing compliance operations across multiple business units or service lines simultaneously
  • Track record of presenting to customers and at senior management level
  • Deep working knowledge of international sanctions regimes (UK OFSI, US OFAC, EU) and AML/CFT frameworks
  • Ability to apply a risk-based approach proportionately across regulated and non-regulated services
  • Experience designing, documenting and implementing KYB/KYC processes at scale
  • Proficiency with compliance screening and due diligence platforms; comfortable with user access governance
  • Strong coaching, conflict resolution and change management capabilities
