Flinders University is seeking an accomplished Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Law (Teaching and Research) to provide academic leadership and make a significant contribution to the future direction of the discipline.

You will bring an established research profile, academic leadership and a passion for developing the next generation of legal professionals, while building meaningful connections across the legal profession, government, industry and community. Current teaching needs include areas such as Evidence, Health Law, Torts, Administrative Law, and Public Law. Your research will contribute to one of Flinders’ strategic research priorities, with opportunities to collaborate across leading research centres including the Jeff Bleich Centre and Centre for Social Impact .

You will:

  • Lead innovative legal education, shaping curriculum, coordinating topics and courses, and enhancing the student experience
  • Drive research excellence and impact through high-quality publications, competitive grants and research collaboration
  • Mentor and lead others, including early career academics, research students and high-performing teaching and research teams
  • Build influential partnerships with industry, professional and community stakeholders nationally and internationally

About You:

You are an established legal academic with a strong reputation for research, teaching and academic leadership. You will have a demonstrated record of research achievement appropriate to your career stage, alongside the ability to inspire students, colleagues and research collaborators.

You will bring the following, aligned with your career stage:

  • A PhD in Law or equivalent qualification, with significant tertiary teaching experience
  • A strong research track record, including high-quality publications and success securing competitive external funding
  • Evidence of tertiary teaching excellence, including topic and course coordination, and curriculum design, including the ability to teach and assess practical legal skills.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership, including curriculum development, course or topic coordination, supervision and mentoring
  • Strong national and/or international networks, with the ability to develop partnerships that create meaningful teaching and research opportunities

  • Appointment is also conditional upon completion of a Gender Based Violence declaration in accordance with the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender Based Violence (2025).
  • International candidates may be considered where they hold an Australian law degree or PhD, or have relevant legal practice experience in Australia that meets the requirements of the position. Relocation support is available to the successful candidate.
