About this Senior Full Stack Developer role at BusPlanner

BusPlanner · Remote · Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer who can work across our entire product portfolio, from the established platforms that hundreds of school districts run on every day to the next-generation platform we are building to expand what's possible for them.

You'll work across both our core platform (BusPlanner Pro and our existing web applications, which must keep running reliably) and our next-generation platform (modern APIs and front ends on a unified data model and cloud-native architecture, with an AI assistant built directly on top of it). We need someone who respects the first, is excited by the second, and can make sound decisions across both.

We are an AI-first engineering team, and Claude Code is central to how we work. We are looking for someone who has fully embraced agentic development: who maintains CLAUDE.md files and skills that encode architecture and conventions, runs agents in parallel, builds verification into the loop, and treats getting better at this as part of the job.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core platform development - maintaining and enhancing our flagship product's core business logic, web applications, and databases, including performance tuning and production fixes across the full stack.
  • Next-generation platform development - designing and building features end-to-end on our modern platform, spanning APIs, modern web front ends, and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Agentic development with Claude Code - using Claude Code as your primary development environment, and building and improving the CLAUDE.md files, skills, agents and workflows the rest of the team relies on.
  • Architecture and technical direction - contributing to design decisions across core and next-generation platforms, reviewing code and setting the standard for quality, including the review of AI-generated code.
  • Mentorship - raising the level of the team through code review, pairing and showing others what AI-first development looks like in practice.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of senior-level ownership: taking features from ambiguous request through design, build, release and support.
  • Deep C#/.NET experience across both generations of the stack: .NET Framework with ASP.NET MVC, and modern .NET / ASP.NET Core.
  • Professional C++ experience and the ability to work productively in a large, long-lived production C++ codebase.
  • Strong SQL Server skills - schema design, T-SQL, stored procedures, query and index performance tuning on production databases.
  • Production React and TypeScript experience building real applications.
  • Full, daily use of Claude Code as your primary development tool. You should be able to show us how you work: CLAUDE.md files, custom skills or commands, subagents, MCP servers, hooks, parallel sessions or worktrees, and how you verify what the agents produce.
  • Experience building agentic workflows beyond your own desk - Claude Code in CI/CD pipelines, automated review, spec-driven or multi-agent development.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building AI features into products - LLM integrations, tool use, retrieval or agent-based functionality on top of application data.
  • Multi-tenant SaaS experience, including tenant isolation and enterprise customer requirements.
  • Kubernetes and Docker experience.
  • IBM Cloud experience, or strong experience with Azure or AWS.
  • Background in fleet, transportation, telematics, GPS, routing or logistics software.
  • Experience supporting both self-hosted and cloud-hosted deployments of the same product.

Benefits

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Full health and wellness benefits.
  • Flexible work hours and remote-friendly setup.
  • Full access to Claude Code and modern AI tooling, and the autonomy to shape how our team uses it.
  • A collaborative team culture focused on modernizing software that drivers, parents and school districts rely on every day.
