The Opportunity
 
Job classification: P2006 - Budget Officer II
Salary range: $90,000 - 100,000 
Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity. 
Hours per week: 37.5
Position end date: April 1, 2028
Paid leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Compensation Analyst serves as the primary liaison between Finance and Human Resources, leading workforce analytics, compensation reporting, and position management processes that support strategic workforce planning and informed decision-making. The role ensures the integrity and quality of workforce and financial information used to support operational and strategic decision-making across the institution.

The position provides workforce and compensation analysis, insights, and recommendations to support labour cost management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and institutional decision-making. The incumbent plays a key role in assessing and implementing changes arising from legislative requirements, collective bargaining agreements, compensation programs, and position management practices. By leveraging technology, automation, data governance, and industry best practices, the role drives modernization and continuous improvement of workforce reporting and analytics.

Success in this role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the institution, and contribute to SAIT's innovation and transformation objectives.

How you'll contribute

  • Serve as the primary Finance liaison to Human Resources, supporting workforce planning, compensation, position management, and staffing complement reporting.   
  • Lead position control activities and support workforce planning through the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, monthly reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights related to labour relations initiatives, collective bargaining agreements, legislative changes, compensation programs, and organizational change.
  • Develop and enhance workforce analytics, reporting solutions, and decision-support tools that enable evidence-based planning and informed decision-making.
  • Lead initiatives to automate, optimize, and modernize workforce reporting processes by applying industry best practices, emerging technologies, and continuous improvement principles.
  • What you bring

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, or related field is required.
  • Professional accounting designation is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of workforce planning, position management, compensation analysis, financial reporting, and related business processes.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • 3+ years of related budgetary and accounting experience. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and changing business needs.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional judgment when working with confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Banner and Adaptive Planning is considered an asset.
