A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Senior Facilities Engineer, you will support the Penang Facilities sites, primarily provide all aspects of facility engineering management, problem solving is the key function of the position. Subject areas will include gas detection systems, PLC programming, building management systems, gas detection systems, preventive maintenance, supporting cost avoidance initiatives and coordination of budgeting, maintaining records, and providing general support services for the operation. The position will also participate in the culture of employee health & safety and good corporate stewardship and be an active team member supporting the Facilities department programs and procedures that promote a well-managed and well-maintained site. In this role, you will report to Senior Facilities Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • To provide technical support during the construction phase, close coordination on progress, reporting and addressing any issues that arise.

  • Experienced in managing contractors for new factory building, inspection, coordination on electrical system installation, test & commissioning and buyoff.

  • Develop and implement preventive strategies related to operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of plant electrical facilities, machineries, and equipment to minimize power interruptions and equipment breakdowns.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for electrical power failures, equipment breakdowns and troubleshooting.

  • To carry out high voltage switching work and maintenance work according to the schedule.

  • Analyze energy usage, identifying opportunities for optimization and cost savings.

  • Regularly inspect and monitor high-tension (HT) and low voltage (LV) switchboard, transformers, switchgears, TNB sub-station and provide detailed technical reports.

  • Supervise works undertaken by maintenance staff, suppliers and contractors to ensure compliance by the laws, standards and safety requirements.

  • Ability to liaise with TNB and Suruhanjaya Tenaga, DOSH, and other government regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.

  • To plan, support and coordinate in Major activities like Annual Shutdown, Overhaul etc.

  • To remain on call and being contactable via phone throughout each day and responding to all emergency maintenance problems on site as soon as possible.

  • Maintain proper electrical report in timely manner.

  • Provide technical support during the factory building construction phase.

  • Regularly inspect and monitor high-tension (HT) and low voltage (LV) switchboard, transformers, switchgears, TNB sub-station and provide detailed technical reports.

  • Experience with data analytics.

  • Conduction operational reviews of a facilities mechanical, electrical or other building systems; may include field work and travel to various sites.

  • Investigate and evaluate facility problems and suggest improvements to the systems.

  • Investigate unique problems related to buildings in the area of energy, electrical systems, infrastructure systems; suggest and implement solutions.

  • Interact with other team members, engineers, and Operations to solve problems.

  • Any and all other duties as and when assigned from time to time by the superior.

Skills You Bring:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with Competency Certificate in Electrical Chargeman BO 11/33kV by Suruhanjaya Tenaga or equivalent.

  • At least 8 years experiences in manufacturing field with high & low voltage troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong team player and ability to build positive collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and plant staff.

  • Has experience to perform troubleshooting for electrical systems and equipment for manufacturing plant.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, BMS.

  • Ability to articulate and explain technical concepts to non-technical trained stakeholder

  • Able to commit on-call task.

  • Experienced in factory startup is added advantage.

  • Position is required to report during emergency events.

  • Demonstrates ability to lead the team and experienced in leading a task or project.

  • Good personal traits and characteristics, high integrity, trustworthy, reliable and honest.

  • Strong team player and ability to build positive collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and plant staff.
