About Strava

Strava is the app for active people. With over 200 million athletes in more than 185 countries, it’s more than tracking workouts—it’s where people make progress together, from new habits to new personal bests. No matter your sport or how you track it, Strava’s got you covered. Find your crew, crush your goals, and make every effort count. Start your journey with Strava today.

Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.

About This Role

Community Engagement builds the social heart of Strava — clubs and events, follower experiences, kudos, and shareables. These are the features that turn solo effort into shared momentum and keep athletes coming back for each other, not just their own stats.

As Senior Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team of 12 (a tech-lead manager and eleven engineers) that owns this social fabric. You'll set the technical and product direction for the team, coach the tech-lead manager and senior engineers, and partner closely with Product and Design to shape and ship the social roadmap. You'll stay close to the technical detail and make sharp trade-off calls, while being accountable for your team's delivery, quality, and growth.

We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our Denver office, three days per week.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and develop a 12-person team, coaching a tech-lead manager and senior engineers.

  • Own the engineering roadmap for Strava's social features and set a high bar for quality and velocity.

  • Partner with Product and Design to define and deliver the social product vision.

  • Make sound technical trade-off decisions, staying close enough to the detail to guide the team well.

  • Grow the team through thoughtful hiring and by developing the talent you already have.

  • Keep the team's systems fast, reliable, and scalable as Strava's community grows.

What You'll Bring To The Team:

  • A product-engineering background, with strong product sense informing your engineering decisions.

  • Technical depth you keep current — you may not write production code day to day, but you stay in the weeds and make confident technical calls.

  • Experience managing managers and senior individual contributors.

  • A track record of setting high expectations and leading with agency and urgency.

  • Experience with social, community, or consumer-engagement products is a plus.
