A Day in the Life
Our Mexico Accounting team, part of the larger global accounting department, oversees the analysis and internal reporting of FIBRA Prologis, FIBRA Terrafina, and Prologis Mexico, under USGAAP, IFRS, and local reporting. As a Senior Corporate Accountant you will support core processes in accounting, financial analysis, and internal reporting of our financial statements. You should demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, process improvement mindset, understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, strong communication skills in Spanish and English, and analytical and problem-solving abilities. You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that requires adaptability, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will prepare reports and documentation for all Mexico entities in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS for inclusion in US public company reporting and the Mexico public company reporting.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger, maintaining accurate account balances, and preparing journal entries related to different group of accounts, such as G&A, intercompany transactions, debt, cash, taxes, among others.
- Highly involved in the month, quarter and year-end closing processes, performing account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
- Highly involved in preparation of working papers to support financial reporting process in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS.
- Perform schedules and reports reviews, while providing relevant in-depth analysis to ensure high quality deliverables.
- Support accurate preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial statement analysis for Mexico entities and reporting to the U.S. consolidated company.
- Identify opportunities and assist in continuous improvement initiatives implementations within the accounting organization to enhance process efficiency and scalability.
- Provide feedback and quality checks on deliverables prepared individually and by peers or junior analysts.
Building Blocks for Success
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 3–5 years of experience in public accounting or within a large corporate enterprise; real estate and international experience a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a collaborative approach to resolving issues.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines effectively, while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong communication in both Spanish and English (advanced level) and interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively across various functional and business teams, both verbally and in writing.
- Adaptable and flexible when faced with new challenges, changing priorities and highly demanding periods.
- Demonstrates initiative and ownership in assigned responsibilities.
Relevant
- Progress toward professional certification (e.g., CPA or CPC) is encouraged but not required.
- Experience with general ledger structure, consolidations, revaluation and translation for multiple stand-alone entities will be considered a plus.
- Demonstrates willingness and capability to leverage emerging technology, automation, and AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and speed. Exercises sound judgment, creative thinking, and accountability for outcomes.
